Sorry forgot to load Mondays press release

2017 CHARITY TURF CHALLENGE sponsored by TRACK AND BALL GAMING
Brett Crawford continued his amazing run of feature race successes during the KZN Champions Season with Search Party who improved on his runner up position in the Tsogo Sun Sprint when taking the Gr.2 Post Merchants on Friday night. And, more importantly, earned a valuable 14 points for his followers which saw the son of Captain Al join Gimme Six and Just Sensual at the top of the Leader Board with 28 points. Neither Talktothestars nor Amazing Strike were part of the competition, so no points were earned for the second and third placed finishers.

Scottsville Racecourse was host to the CTC title sponsors big raceday, the Track & Ball Oaks and Derby, both now Gr.3 races and worth 9 points to the winning horses. The Oaks was first up and in a typically tight finish, Zante, kept rolling under an inspired front running ride by Ian Sturgeon. Paying R16.70 on the Tote, the Geoff Woodruff trained daughter of Ideal World earned an additional 5 bonus points for a total tally of 14. Girl On The Run finished second and earned 5 points whilst the third placed runner, Estimation, was not part of the competition. In the Track & Ball Derby, July hopeful, Mr Winsome would have impressed the panel with his sustained finish to get the better of Sun On Africa and Let It Rain, neither of which were in the competition. He added to the 6 points he earned when dead-heating for 3rd place in the Gr.2 Greyville 1900m event. Budapest, Macduff and the talented Table Bay were the other point scorers during the week, earning a point each.

The focus is now firmly on the Vodacom Durban July and the all important Stand Alone prize worth R20 000 for the entrant with the most points scored on the day.

There were a few changes at the top of the leader board this week, with Premier League (2) and Premier League (1) benefitting from the efforts of Search Party and they moved into the top 10 with 158 and 152 points respectively. Jelly Jungle Monkey (4) is still on top with 163 points, 1 clear of CM (6) and a further point clear of Kavasan Moodley (10). The full leader board can be found as a pdf on the website.

2017 CHARITY TURF CHALLENGE sponsored by TRACK AND BALL GAMING
This week, the big race action in terms of points scored came in the form of the final leg of the Western Cape’s Winter Series, the Gr.3 Winter Derby. African Night Sky completed the treble in scintillating style when streaking clear of his field for Fred Crabbia and took his CTC points tally to 18 with the 9 points he earned. Paddington ran second and Ollivander, who was part of the competition came third and got onto the leader board with 3 points. In the Listed Ladies Mile, Silvan Star got the job done and took home 2 points for those players that looked for value outside of the KZN Season.

The KZN Breeders Day turned into a Sean Tarry benefit day and of his 6 winners, three earned a point for their victories: Visuality, Heaps Of Fun and the most impressive winner on the day, Matador Man, won the non-black type KZN Million Mile. Amazon King and Premier Dance were the other point scorers as the action moves to the Vodacom Durban July and the all important Stand Alone prize worth R20 000 for the entrant with the most points scored on the day.

Predictably there were no changes at the top of the leader board this week, with Jelly Jungle Monkey (4) still on top with 163 points, 1 clear of CM (6) and a further point clear of Kavasan Moodley (10). The full leader board can be found as a pdf on the website.
