2017 CHARITY TURF CHALLENGE sponsored by TRACK AND BALL GAMING
Zante’s dogged fight to the line with eventual Elan Gold Cup winner, Hermoso Mundo, was the only point scorer on the final day of this year’s competition, taking home 5 points for her second place.
But the day belonged to Premier League July whose 241 points was enough to secure victory and take home the R100 000 first prize! Second prize of R20 000 went to Frodo (1) and third placed CM (6) earned a healthy R10 000 for finishing in third place. Many congratulations to the winners! Please make contact with the Racing South Africa team to ensure prompt payment of your prizes.
A cheque worth R25 000 was paid over to the competition charity beneficiary, the AHS Trust.

Well done Premier League , Frodo and CM. This competition proves anybody can win you don't have to be connected to anyone in racing. I have 2 entries in the top 10 both picked from the internet while sitting in India. 1 on my entries in Memory of my late wife Annie Sevlall. December 4th this year will be 10 years since I lost Annie and my son Ashley in a car accident. Annie loved racing was well known at Turfontein . Stiker Strydom was her favourite as every time he went down to the start Annie would ask him if he had a chance and he always gave her a comment. Thank you Striker and all the other Jockeys especially Randall Simons who made our racing weekend visit to the track special. Jockeys attitude to the public can really help draw crowds to the race track. I am glad the least I could do is get Annie's name in the top 10 maybe next year we might just have better luck.

Thanks to the Clan for the congratulations, and a big shoutout to keeran sharing his memories .... better luck next year.....
Human nature leaves a lo to be desired some time ..... as Nightingale ran into 2nd in the last 50 metres, I was so disappointed with the 80k I missed out on, that the 20k was almost an afterthought.... anyway this morning I see things much clearer and realize that there are surely a few hard luck stories around ... special commiserations to the guy finshing in 4th .....

Nice one Frodo............
Very stiff, and brilliantly played.
I wish the "CM " was me , so I would have at least have some taxi money...........
p.s. Please send in proof once you get your cheque so we can be sure it was you....
p.p.s. Suppose Elvis wants half as well....
