It's only April and besides people will get more exited over a chip roll than the Durban July since they who know it all messed up the course.

actually the thousands that bet once a year on the July have no idea that Racing is in crisis and they make up major revenue on this race

excitement is building, booked and paid for my site already. no matter the shit course I still love the day. 50000 people jeering their fancy with 600m to go is complete XTC . this will be my 10th July and I cant wait, hopefully the weather is better than last year and I get to see out the 12th race. Last year was freaking cold and I hit the hard stuff from Race 2 so by the time the 12th came along I was some what :silly: normal only go onto the hard stuff after the 7th.

Was on course for my first July when Bush Telegraph won with that low weight, remember my dad making a fortune that day. Amazing experience it was.
Have been to a couple of July's after that one in 1986 but haven't been for the last 20 years.
Think it is time to go again

Every year same story
1. What condition will the grass be in ?
2. Lots of hard luck stories with the track configuration
3. Will they reduce number of runners to 16
Seems like in the last few years sInce the arrival of poly the best horse doesn't win more like the horse with the best luck in running wins
