Betting absolute crazy imo - how Hermoso Mundo can be favorite (around 3 kgs out at the weights) and Smart Mart is off form

Wonderwall in race 4 a banker for me in pick 6.....Tarry thinks very highly of him...he smashed Barrack Street in the Cape...and disposed of Naafer easily whilst not even sweating.
Legal Eagle in the race 9..is my favourite horse in the country. Over 2000m I will add Nother Russia, Brazuca and French Navy...like the way the latter was running on in the last 2 starts.

In race 5 I like all of 1, 5, 6, 9 and 11. With preference for number 5 Green Plains.
In race 6 I like all of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8. No preference and luck in running will split them with probably Orchid Island in the first 3.
In race 7 I like 1, 2 and 4 with my choice being Pagoda. I believe he has scope for improvement and a less strenuous campaign leading up to the race.
In race 8 I like 1, 5, 13 and 14 with Carry on Alice and Jos Bond to fight it out.
Pick 6: 10/1-5-6-9-11/1-2-3-4-5-8/1-2-4/1-5-13-14/1-3-5-9
R1440 for a full unit......in or out in the first leg with back up in the last leg if im still running.

Re: Turffontein Champions Day

Race 1 - Bold Viking is my tentative selection as the lack of pace in the race raises question marks. Rocketball should outrun his odds of 14/1 and is each way value.
Race 2 - Incredibly tough race to figure out but think Just As I Said could show he is top draw here. I would suggest saving your money for later.
Race 3 - Ilitshe won quite comfortably last time out. Delpech now up (feel bad for Munger) and could have a say in the finish. Smart Mart has been prepped over shorter and put up a respectable performance in his last race, has won over 3200m albeit at Kenilworth but one for the short list. Lions Emblem is one for the big odds seekers.
Race 4 - Mustaaqeem, Mustaaqeem and Mustaaqeem. The manor in which this horse won was impressive. Murray gave him one slight tap to straighten him up and that was that. I do believe there are many more gears that we have not seen. Stable companion Naafer should fill the exacta box, Wonderwall squeezed him up on debut and broke his stride before clearing away to win by 3.50 lengths. I'm expecting a form reversal. Barack Street not in the same class as the above mentioned.
Race 5 - Think this is the hardest race to sum up given the question marks regarding Kissable as well as what looks a field full of depth. Having said that, Silver Thursday could be anything after shocking Fish River at the Vaal although I believe the two will be much closer come Saturday. Green Plains can be held in the same regard as Fish River as both have easily disposed of Desert Rythm in the past. Twelve Oaks won impressively on debut and can only improve and the same can be said about Winter's Forge. Daring Diva has done absolutely nothing wrong and is undefeated coming into this. At the prices I believe Fish River offers up the most value each way.
Race 6 - Another hard race to gauge as the distance provides all the question marks. Belle Rose won the trial and then went on to run creditably in the Classic. Oriental Oak finished in a rattle after being stacked at the back and the same could be said for Captain Gambler. The Ramsden stable made it clear that the Oaks was Captain Gambler's main mission and quotes of 16/1 are generous. Orchid Island needs to be respected after toughing it out in the classic while Wind Chill gets the services of Marcus and has form that ties her in closely with Belle Rose. Ill stick with Captain Gambler as the value as she was drawn horribly wide last time and couldn't get into the race. With a 3 draw, she can go much closer in this.
Race 7 - Heavenly Blue looks very hard to oppose. The lack of pace will not worry the De Kock yard as he showed a tremendous turn of foot to win the Classic. I do not see Al Sahem making up the ground on him and this is the P6 banker.
Race 8 – Incredibly tough race, tons of chances in it if you look beyond the Tarry two. Carry On Alice is a super horse and could take some beating but all of Moofeed, Brutal Force, Rivarine, Rafeef, Trip to Heaven and Rivarine need respect.
Race 9 – Siding with the eagle. French Navy is getting back to his best and should run in the money. Nother Russia interesting against the boys.
Race 10 – Another tough one, Tarry holds the aces though. Trophy Wife has proven she is top class, and Heaps of Fun ran a good race behind Nother Russia last time out. Al Hawra is capable and could get close given her weight allowance. Flying Ice is capable but has been disappointing of late.
Race 11 – Silvan Saint looked special when winning his maiden and could follow up against a weakfish field. Starett City is probably best of the rest. If Arpad brings his best he could be in the money.
Race 12 – Green Pepper wasn’t 100% tuned up when being beaten by Exquisite Touch last time. Having said that ET ran a massive race and could be a force to reckon with in the future if she follows up here. I will be with Green Pepper to close the card.

Stable Comments Turffontein Saturday May 6 – Courtesy of TABNews
RACE 3 GOLD BOWL
Jurgen van Heerden: The problem is that we battled to get Ilitshe to settle but a work rider who has been with me for many years did all the ground work and then Andrew Fortune put the cherry on the top and he learned to settle. If there is a pace he has a good chance, if the pace is slow he could find it difficult. The wide draw is a worry because he is not a horse you can bounce because if you do he takes a hold, and he is a strong 530kg animal and will be hard to hold. But he is well and happy at the moment and I’ve done all I can. Now it’s up Ryan Munger to make the right decisions. Woody Cape is also well and I am hopeful of good run from him.
Stanley Ferreira: Kanonkop is 6.5kg better off with Ilitshe which should make him competitive in this race.
Sean Tarry: Supertube has come down in the weights. We’re trying the tongue tie this time. It’s not a strong race and I think he should be competitive.
Mike de Kock: With Smart Mart what you see is what you get. He can be a little in and out but last time he ran on and will be better suited to this distance. On his day he can be competitive.
RACE 4 SA NURSERY
Sean Tarry: Barrack Street is very well. He’s won three out of four and we’ve got him under control now and know how to manage him. Wonderwall had a very impressive win. He’s a very good horse and has got better and stronger. He’s got to have a chance.
Mike de Kock: Naafer is a very nice colt. I would ignore his first run in the yielding going. He’s a different horse when the ground is on top. He’s a top horse. Mustaaqeem is a funny horse in that he’s laid back and relaxed but he’s got a bit of a kick on him. We expected him to run well last time but the margin of the win was surprising. I prefer horses like him who bring their best to the track.
Robbie Sage: Both Boatswain and Coastal Torrent are well but are taking on a very strong field.
Corne Spies: Laurent du Var is doing well but it is a strong field.
Clinton Binda: Whorly Whorly could have finished closer to Barrack Street two runs back. I’m more hopeful than confident but he will be trying his best.
RACE 5 SA FILLIES NURSERY
Sean Tarry: There are a couple of hotties in the race but I think Green Plains will be more effective over six furlongs. It will be interesting to see who improves best over the distance. Desert Rhythm is probably the second choice from the stable but she’s won two races, the form has been franked and the extra 60m will help her. She deserves her place
Mike de Kock: Silver Thursday is quite a nice filly. Not quite her trip but if they go fast she can run them down. Fish River needed her last run but got a bit tired. She has improved. She’s a classy filly, quite speedy.
Paul Matchett: Kissable is well. She’s also had a virus so it hasn’t been easy. There is a question mark about the distance but she should get it if she settles.
Barend Botes: Daring Diva has done all that I can ask of her and I would like to think she will win.
Corne Spies: Both Outlander and Star Profile are doing well but are running in a very strong field.
Paul Peter: Phillydelphia is in a tough race but could run a place.
Stanley Ferreira: Winter’s Force has a hard task ahead of hear but I am expecting a decent run.
RACE 6 WILGERBOSDRIFT SA OAKS
Sean Tarry: Smiling Blue Eyes pulled up with a virus after the Fillies Classic the question mark is whether she’s had enough time to get over it. I would be very confident if she was at her best. She shows me at home everything is fine and although all the signs are there that she’s over it, it is a worry, especially as we are going the extra distance this time.
Mike de Kock: Orchid Island won a good race last time. She’s a minute little thing and going 2400m will not be easy. She’s had a straightforward preparation but she gives you nothing in home and does not inspire much confidence. But when she gets to the track she does the job. She’s like the rest of the Ilha Da Vitoria family – all small but very hearty on the track. Belle Rose is possibly the horse to beat in the Oaks. She’s not the soundest of fillies, does not have the nicest of legs and is not straightforward to train. But based on the way she ran in the Classic she has to be a huge contender, especially from a decent draw this time.
Geoff Woodruff: It was a nice run from Bi Pot in the Fillies Classic. My only concern is whether she really sees out 2450m but being by Judpot she should. If she is able to settle and allowed to come with a late dash she has a chance. Parabola is a genuine staying filly who is way under the radar yet. I’ve got no concern about her seeing out the distance but there is a question mark as to whether she has the class.
Robbie Sage: Oriental Oak is very well and I am trusting in her to give her best.
Joey Ramsden: I was really pleased with the run of Captain Gambler as it was her first run since the Cape Derby. It was a slow run race which did not suit her. They finished in a heap and being that it was her first run on the Highveld she has an awful amount of improvement in her.
RACE 7 SA DERBY
Mike de Kock: The only doubt we have with Heavenly Blue is whether he will see out the trip. He’s a son of Snitzel so on his sire’s side he’s not bred for the trip but there is stamina on the female line.Horses are not always bred for the Derby distance and usually it’s their class that sees them through.
Sean Tarry: Heavenly Blue definitely looks the horse to beat but Al Sahem is the best I’ve had him and I believe he will get the trip. Last time he got flat footed when Heavenly Blue picked him up in a matter of strides and we were off the bit. He’s only raced four times and with every run he is improving. We are with Furiosa where we were last time. I can’t have a lot more confidence.
Geoff Woodruff: I don’t think Pagoda will mind the trip. I got a lot of confidence from Derby Trial. In that he is a small horse and he gave away weight to most of the others.
Paul Peter: King Of Blues stays well and I am hopeful he can get into the back end of Quartets.
Brian Wiid: Lee’s Pick is in a very strong field and I am just hopeful.
Robbie Sage: Okavango Delta is trying this longer trip and I am just hopeful of improvement.
RACE 8 COMPUTAFORM SPRINT
Sean Tarry: Carry On Alice is probably the horse to beat. Everything has gone well. While Trip To Heaven blossomed in Cape Town, she does not do as well in the Cape as she does in Joburg. The Kenilworth course is tougher and undulating and horses who make an early move come back to the field. Not to say Trip To Heaven hasn’t got a chance. Anton Marcus rides him for the first time and who knows, he might be able to get him out quicker. But I’m still leaning towards her. The race doesn’t stop with them but I would rather have my two than any of the others in the race.
Joey Ramsden: Brutal Force is in great form but Carry On Alice is the one to beat. Let’s hope the draw is not a killer. If it rains it would make it a fair contest. Pillar Of Hercules will be a Grade 1 contender once we have had a chance to cut him. He’s still very classy though and on his last run could place. Not a soft ground horse.
Mike de Kock: Rafeef is doing extremely well, showing a lot of speed, and I expect him to be not far off them. He does show so much at home we thought we would try further but perhaps we went too far over 1600m. He has the pace to be competitive over 1000m. Moofeed was unlucky last time but he will do well to run into the money.
Gavin van Zyl: Isca can run with the best on his day.
RACE 9 PREMIER’S CHAMPION CHALLENGE
Sean Tarry: Legal Eagle is doing very well. Any suggestions that he does not get a true-run 2000m I think is garbage. French Navy has had a good prep and everything gone smoothly. Simple to see from the improvement he showed in his last run that the tongue tie worked well. I think he can get closer than he did last year, why not? Stonehenge is there as a pacemaker. Having said that his last run was not too bad and they’re paying up to the last horse.
Mike de Kock: If you do the maths French Navy is 3kg out with Legal Eagle and Nother Russia is next best, another 1kg out. On that basis she must have a competitive chance of finishing in the first three.
Geoff Woodruff: We’re probably all looking at chasing after prize money without expecting to win. You can ignore Master Sabina’s last run. He pulled up with a bruised foot but he’s fine now. That was a come-on race for both Master Sabina and Deo Juvente.
Stanley Ferreira: Juxtapose has a hard task in this line-up but is fit and well.
RACE 10 GERALD ROSENBERG STAKES
Sean Tarry: We haven’t recaptured Heaps Of Fun’s best form as yet but her run in the Woolavington when fourth behind Bela-Bela shows she should stay the trip. I’m hoping for a good run. Intergalactic was disappointing in her last start. I know she’s better than that. This is her third run back and she’s not out of it. Trophy Wife is very reliable. Her last two runs were decent and she has to be a runner in this event.
Mike de Kock: The Centenary was very disappointing last time but she pulled up coughing. I’m expecting a better race this time. Al Hawraa ran a cracking race last time, despite being unplaced. She had a bad draw. I make her a runner so don’t leave her out of anything.
Geoff Woodruff: Inanna is related to Inara but there is a question mark about the distance. Her first run on the Highveld was very promising over the mile. She’s quite useful. Zante will be much happier at level weights with most of these fillies instead of having to give them weight. This trip could be a bit sharp but she’s only now starting to come to hand. She’s a big, strong mare and we’re chasing whatever Black Type we can.
RACE 12 CAMELLIA STAKES:
Sean Tarry: Exquisite Touch has done nothing wrong. She lost her way a little bit, but she’s back with a bang, maybe even better than she was as a juvenile. Tiger’s Touch is doing well. I think you can ignore her last run. I make her upset material for Quartets.
Stanley Ferreira: Lumya is fit and well and I am hopeful.
Corne Spies: Seattle Singer is doing well and could be in the shake-up if in the mood.
RACE 3 GOLD BOWL
Jurgen van Heerden: The problem is that we battled to get Ilitshe to settle but a work rider who has been with me for many years did all the ground work and then Andrew Fortune put the cherry on the top and he learned to settle.
