I would not write off Elusive Silver just yet.....he got a bad start in the 1900 and still ran.on well. Im waiting for the log.....elusive might still be.in the top 20.....if he gets in on a MR99 then he will carry a lovely light weight

lotters wrote: Nice listening to Justin last night. He made a case for Elusive Silvas below par run and warned not to write this off for the big one . Black Arthurs comments was interesting . He seemed very excited here and when seeing him work in the mornings was hoping the july would be run within days. This tells me that the gelding must be showing them excellent work and I see now 10 s in betting. Justin said that Delpech had not committed yet so lets see if Black Arthur has impressed him enough to secure the ride for the big one .

Lotters , Justin is always talking his horses up...Last year there was huge betting support for BA and then Justin was going on about Bela Bela which resulted in Delpech switching mount...why is this year any different?

Agreed FF. Always fun for the game to have his upbeat character though. I recall a few years back when he wanted a match race between Dancers Daughter and Pocket Power... Bass said no. I also recall him saying that Dancers Daughter would trounce Pocket Power in the MET... "Bring Pocket and his little sister (River Jetez), and my filly will dispose of them..." I recall him saying something to that effect. I personally went all out on Dancers Daughter... And guess what, Pocket reigned supreme. :P

Exactly, talking won't get BA a run in the July.

Talking managed to get Futura into the July 3 years ago. All he had achieved up to then was a 3rd in a Grade 3 race.

^ and wasn't it justified? He ran 3rd.

I'm sure Black Arthur will show why he's so highly rated in the Cup Trial. He's a fantastic horse at his best.

What about Al Saheem? Or as it was pointed out to me before if any Slack horse gets in will Delpech have to ride that first? My money is on Big Al if he comes through the Daily News well(he does not even have to win - Remember Pomodoro did not win the DN) then I think Delpech will be glued to his saddle for the July.

Every year the 'July' question is whether the 3 yr olds are good enough at the allocated weights to trouble the older horses - some years they are, other years not - last year they were not - and no clear indication whether they will be good enough this year. Seeing that Delpech seemingly prefers Black Arthur from the Snaith runners, it would be interesting to know his preference between Al Sahem and Black Arthur

He did justify it but do you pick the July field on talk and future potential or what they have shown to date?

I believe Black Arthur is a serious contender for the July.
