I know that's what they are saying - but what is 'form' - Black Jaguar ran 2.75 lengths behind Marinaresco in his first run since December - so someone is judging this 'form' to be not good enough to give him a spot in the top 25  Imo, ratings obtained in races should be used to measure 'form' - yes he did run 10th out of 14 - but IF someone took the trouble to rate the race, it would show that he ran to a 103 at least - imo that 'form' is better than the 'form' of Elusive Silva when he beat Helderberg Blue the other day (receiving 4.5 kgs) by 1.75 lengths - running to around 96 imo - and that's assuming that both Wild Brier and Street Flyer (also in that race) both ran as much as 5 points higher than rated

And I have no soft spot for Black Arthur and I haven't put a cent on him (yet) - but this log is inaccurate to put it very mildly (croc of sh*t probably a better description) B)

They are very lucky that the men, women and horses that went before them made the July into what it is..otherwise it would be a no go zone.

If you look at the conditions it is very clear that Gold Circle can basically do what they like..... The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into springs to mind. Pirates asks relevant questions on SP. It is a disgrace that the countries "premier race" has become a thing of opinion amongst some not so wise men.

You would think with all the drama over the past few years that Gold Circle would have cleared all this up by now.

I have no problem with qualifying races(punters an then take ante post knowing they will get a run if the owners wish it) but for me it is top heavy catering for three-year-olds - 6 of the 10 races to auto-qualify - either the Classic or the Derby but no both - Cape Derby does produce top horses but early in the season and some horses that have run well there are milers more than stayers and class pulls them through

So now we have a list - has this list been published anywhere else before ? I think that the bookies would have priced up differently had the list been 'common knowledge'

And I agree with Mr H in that this list is top-heavy in favor of the 3yr olds .... anyway I suppose that's the way it is and I suspect that there will be a few disappointed owners of older horses come final acceptance ...
