Also I think the Road Accident Fund has changed some rules so perhaps (I'm speculating) the revenue stream is not as strong as it used to be?

is that ambulance chaser really him?

If it is Mike de Broglio I would not classify him as a big owner. If anything he must one of the luckiest trust owners ever.

He got into the game through David Ferraris. He was clueless about horses and horse racing. I remember him going to Turffies to support his first horse Sabina Park and screaming her home. He got the bug good and proper.

If it is Mike that is selling up, he is getting out of his biggest passion and hobby. No-one just gives something up unless the fan has been switched on by someone and he needs to avoid something big hitting the fan.

i don't think that is true - if I recall he is quoted as having punted to pay Uni fees but I may be wrong

Another loss to the Jet Master sire, which inevitably could mean that the VDJ 2017 is most likely to be won by Delpech aboard a Mike De Kock or Sean Tarry trained runner.

What is all the fuss about? Owners numbers are down two thirds from the days of when racing was run by the clubs.

.....Mr H you are right he was a punter before getting involved with Sabina Park picked for him by Ormond Ferraris as David had already left for Hong Kong....Mike had set up a website about Sabina Park documenting a 1st time owner and his early punting days....I was a bit miffed as I e-mailed De Brolio to congratulate him about his purchase....as Sabina had been a strong pick of mine at the sales....he never replied to the mail....and thought had become bigger than the game..... :S

Mr Muhtiman I am with you. I did a quick search on the internet and this man's website says that he is a National Director of the Racing Assiciation. Here is an attorney selling himself with false facts about himself on his website. He has not been a director of the Racing Association since at least Jacob Zuma became president.

2016 Individual owners - 2257 a 4,5% decrease over the previous year. Source : 2016 NHA Annual report.

4,5% dont seem too bad does it? Well off a low , and continuing decreasing base, it is catastrophic. In 1997 there were 12863 Individual owners. Source : 1997 South African Jockey Club Annual Report.

Make your own deductions.
