Why leave Orchid Island in until now?
I thought she had a place chance at least.
Cost me a lot of money anti post cos she was guaranteed a run....?????

Taken from the citizen with regards to Marineresco's run in The Rising Sun:
Trainer Candice Bass-Robinson said yesterday morning: “He was fine after the race. I think he just raced too handily. We were trying to get him closer to the pace and they went hard on
Saturday so he was always travelling out of his comfort zone. His biggest asset is his turn of foot, but he couldn’t find it because they were travelling so hard. Ideally we would have done better coming off the back. We’ll go back to dropping him in."

From Brett's website
Captain America taken out of 2017 Durban July
BY MARK · PUBLISHED JUNE 12, 2017 · UPDATED JUNE 12, 2017
After discussions with the owners of Captain America, winner of the Gold Challenge over the weekend at Greyville, Crawford Racing has decided to withdraw their Group 1 winning star from the Durban July handicap.
Previously rated 116, the additional penalty of around 1kg that he’s just received for that sterling win made a difficult task as top weight appear insurmountable – the July distance of 2200m is already pushing his stamina reserves to the outermost limit .
Trainer Brett Crawford feels that, under the circumstances, it makes better sense to focus on the Champions Cup where he would be more favourably weighted given the conditions of the race.
Captain America has compiled a tremendous race record of nine wins from 28 starts for earnings of close to R5 million. The powerful pace- pressing galloper has performed with distinction around the country in high class races, and whilst he gets middle distances is at his most formidable over a mile – six of his wins coming over this trip.

Very important for me would be to know the jockey allocations for the July, this year the race seems to be wide open, Although I fancy Crawford or Woody to win the July, I am very curious to know who will ride:
Black Arthur
Bela-Bela
Nightingale
Brazuca

Going the Garden Province route – from a Gold Circle Press Release of earlier today:
Snaith did, however, declare that his top filly Bela-Bela, a super third in the Rising Sun, would not contest the premier event but would go for the Grade 1 Jonsson Workwear Garden Province Stakes where she would meet the facile winner of the Grade 2 Tibouchina Stakes, Just Sensual, from the Joey Ramsden yard.
Black Arthur - Grant van Niekerk
Other jockeys declared
Its My Turn - Pierre Strydom
Saratoga Dancer - Craig Zackey
Ten Gun Salute - Muzi Yeni
Elusive Silva - Richard Fourie

I can then only presume that stable jock Aldo Domeyer will be on one of the other Bass-Robinson elects being Nightingale or Horizon, I make Nightingale my dark horse for this years July
