........has to be my worst South Arican horse racing commentator. He does not appreciate that not everyone has backed the horse he wants to win. You can tell which horse he has backed within 400m after the gates have opened. He should listen to the UK, AUS and FRENCH racing commentators. They are true professionals. He should take a leaf out of their books. There is no need to shout home a horse. He has no idea that hisunwelcome commentating antics puts off punters. Most punters lose more times than they win. It is really heartwrenching to some to hear Sheldon Peters to loudly call home or gloat about a horse that pips the one they have backed. A few punters have told me that they stay away from punting at Greyville and whetever else Sheldon Peters calls races. To them it is simple, they love horse racing and punting. When Sheldon Peters calls he ruins it for them. I have decided to follow their lead. At least I will no longer get irritated by him. If he changes his style and calls races in an objective manner without unecessarily raising his voice, I may return to racing when he calls. I do noyt expect to change anything with this thread. I just hope that someone will whisper something in his ears.

i could not agree more with the comments above. The last race was pathetic.

Not my favourite commentator either, but tonight the English Language was butchered by the in-studio presenter.

I think I said this once before on another thread... Sheldon has to be one the worst commentators around. I didn't reason it but it's been summed up pretty nicely here

Guys, if you don't like his commentary, just mute the audio. He is way better than the others, let's be honest.
Here's an exercise, mute the audio when Sheldon is calling, if your fancy doesn't win, see if you dislike the man more.
That's the beauty of watching any sport, you don't need the audio, you know when your horse, team, boxer, is in shit, despite what the commentator is trying to communicate - it works, try it.

Lionel, all commentators have their good and bad moments. Irrespective of who is calling the race, local or overseas, if your fancy wins the race, do you really care what phraseology is used? Try and watch a football match with a muted audio and play your favourite cd at the same time. You really don't need to hear what the commentator thinks, you can see what is going on for yourself. Should your team lose, who's to blame?, the muted commentator or your favourite cd? That's my point, it doesn't matter, audio on or off.
