It had to be more than an itch, Mr Hawaai --- 2.5 Lengths behind let it flow, in a race that produced 5 winners and now 6.

I take it by "make amends" you referring to Mutawaary? If that horse was the right one in the previous race, he would have gone off closer to evens. The bigger stables, when they confident of their winning chances, they get stuck in.
When you look at Mutawaary's breeding, they obviously put him over the sprint distances based on the Australian side of the breeding, that didn't work out, so exercise the next best option - Zabeel, put him over further, what have we got to lose type thinking?
i think the misunderstanding came about in my use of the word amends as what i really meant was for Callan to make amends to my book
So with that out of the way im convinced a stable of that stature does not include the guesswork you suggest, and for me as an unexperienced reader of pedigree could easily tell that the horse is bred for distance.
His good performance in sprints was in spite of rather then suitability to his pedigree
For various reasons not every winner that comes out of a big yard or any yard gets punted as we saw Onamission win with odds above 8/1
