Re: Turffontein Saturday
7 years 8 months ago.....really fancied him to run an improved race today and put him in the P6 too....but seeing him in the parade ring he looked that he was no longer in the Azzie camp....he looks like a bag of bones....must have been taken off racing feed that was making him hyper.....seemed to have done the trick.....hope he gets a big meal for his improved behavior.....jimbo wrote:Adams wrote: Race 4: Tapanzee is rated, but very dissapointing - no doubt he's going to put up an effort one day. Mutawaary has put in some good efforts at shorter, so either this is his trip and he will win smartly, or the change in trip is a desperation move. I cannot find anything other than these two to recommend. Mister Lister could improve on last run and be in contention as well. Mutawaary makes the most appeal here - but there is a degree of faith involved. Don't go crying to the Azzie's though if Tapanzee was to win
Some to watch here beyond the obvious are Plucky Plunderer, Sea Lord and London Fog
Thanks Adams - put it in the P6 after reading this - 1 down 5 to go

From here on in I really cannot recommend anything , that time of the year when one has to just allow a few runs to get the horses to sort out their form.
Race 5: very competitive race - every contender has recommendations. Bankable Teddy looks well placed here and should have a chance, being in form and coming off an easy win. The Elmo Effect is the natural challenger, but might battle at a route, straight out of rest. Kilrain and Kallua Castle come off very weak wins LTO and would need to show more to win here.

Killua Castle, has he ever won two on the bounce? He is taking on stronger, going to take him on with Kilrain

I take it by "make amends" you referring to Mutawaary? If that horse was the right one in the previous race, he would have gone off closer to evens. The bigger stables, when they confident of their winning chances, they get stuck in.
When you look at Mutawaary's breeding, they obviously put him over the sprint distances based on the Australian side of the breeding, that didn't work out, so exercise the next best option - Zabeel, put him over further, what have we got to lose type thinking?

Stupid answer, yes - he won the race, but you missing the point Brian.
These big stables put the lights out when they confident.

Kilrain the unlucky loser, gets the gap, no race.
