Jacques Pauw is one of the finest and bravest investigative journalists in South African history in apartheid and post apartheid days. Having personally dealt with him, to question his integrity and ethics is rather folly when you consider what he has taken on and stood against.
He isn't a journo, he's the best factual reporter in African history

This horse is running on Wednesday at Greyville. A tip in itself!

Seriously though, I do like seeing Mr. Roy sit at the Directors table in the Durban View Room every meeting. Must be nice that the directors schmooze a man of such integrity

I comment here purely based on the fact that the etiquette, moral and integrity of the trainer is brought into question:
with regards ( in this case specifically to owners allegedly gaining wealth in fraudalent or unscruplous ways) -

When this alleged owner goes to :
PNP - are you saying the store should turn him away?
Woolies - should they turn him away?
A restuarant - turn him away?
my fav "TOPS" - turn him away?
A trainer is an integral part of the system - his responsibility extends far beyond the owner. so before we question the integrity and morals of an owner we need to look beyond myopism.

I think you under estimate your responsibilities not just as a Triner but also as a Citizen in this country -

Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act, 2004 (Act No. 12 of 2004)

To provide for the strengthening of measures to prevent and combat corruption and corrupt activities; to provide for the offence of corruption and offences relating to corrupt activities; to provide for investigative measures in respect of corruption and related corrupt activities; to provide for the establishment and endorsement of a Register in order to place certain restrictions on persons and enterprises convicted of corrupt activities relating to tenders and contracts; to place a duty on certain persons holding a position of authority to report certain corrupt transactions; to provide for extraterritorial jurisdiction in respect of the offence of corruption and offences relating to corrupt activities; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Who is impacted by the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act?

All natural and juristic persons in South Africa as well as South Africans operating outside of the country. The following specific activities regarding identified functions and roles where corrupt activities could impact are also highlighted in the PCCA:

public officers,
foreign public officials,
agents,
members of legislative authorities,
judicial officers;
parties to an employment relationship
witnesses and evidential material in certain proceedings
contracts
procuring and withdrawal of tenders
auctions
sporting events
gambling games or games of chance
Offences related to possible conflict of interest

“sporting event” means any event or contest in any sport. between
individuals or teams. or in which an animal competes, and which is usually
attended by the public and is governed by rules which include the constitution,
rules or code of conduct of any sporting body which stages any sporting event
or of any regulatory body under whose constitution, rules or code of conduct
the sporting event is conducted;

DHT why should you not expand this proposed lack of moral fibre witch hunt further? Should the Jockey Club not be involved seeing that they are the custodians of "the integrity of horse racing?" Sure to goodness you have to react when one of your directors is named as the biggest greaser of the countrys biggest thiefs palms?

1000 % OTA however I did not want to carry on with this discussion as I could see Louis G was getting upset and did not really understand my post.

However you are correct Gold Circle and the NHA , the RA are just as guilty .

This example about shopping at Pick and Pay is ridiculous. If the Security guard at the door and the business owner have knowledge that the man coming in to buy goods , that he is buying goods with stolen money , they have very low standards etc. ..... and should throw him out the door.

I see it slightly differently - the nhra etc are not investigating bodies re non horse related matters- How many investigators do they actually have? The failure, if any, lies with the Government - If the law acted against people implicated then it would become public knowledge and then the NHRA or a trainer could act - At this point (I'm really uncertain of the facts) but are there ANY criminal cases pending or criminal investigations against any of these owners? It would be a moral issue for a trainer to decide to expel an owner based on allegations and I'm sure with the NHRA's track record of losing in open court has them scared of upsetting owners that could use serious lawyers. The owners implicated should step down from positions in the NHRA until the matters are settled - An aside - I wonder how may of these people implicated have started legal proceedings against publications and individuals to clear their names? (Not many I think)

The shares were sold at a premium

Much has been said and published and yet the man is not threatening to sue anybody like when his son was involved in a police matter. Mafia style it got sorted?

That aside the said person has been awarded a Thekwini tender iro providing security...this was after a possible payment iro of Nkandla...still waiting for that bank to prove it had granted a loan to that MAN..

Petty thievery paying the MAN a million a month...what was doing ..guarding the DEPOT in Mt Edgecombe!!!

Now to public and business alike...Will you all who have Royal as a security response or use their services for anything do the right thing...HAVE A CONSCIENCE ....TERMINATE THE CONTRACT....
