It seems that some people believe that this Steinhoff fraud will have little or no effect on racing outside of those directly affected by Joostes financial demise. Some people believe that Jooste and racing are separated insofar as the running of the business is concerned. Bear with me while I ask some questions.

The first question is related to the appointment of key personnel in racing structures, lets see if the dots can be followed in the appointments of

1. Rian du Plessis - CEO Phumelela
2. Lyndon Barends - MD NHRA
3. Larry Wainstein - CEO Racing Association

All have a common denominator.

....it does not matter how and why these okes got their jobs.....they are now gainfully employed and have fat salaries and perks.....and as you may know we live in a country with very strict labour laws.....as long as they do their jobs which require very little or no performance parameters..... they are there to stay.........as I for one cannot see them doing the harakiri thing like their ultimate benefactor....

Is OTA saying that these guys were all put into their positions by MJ? Surely with the utmost of respect his influence does not stretch to the NHA? du Plessis I know they have history, Larry I have no idea why hes linked. Barends surely has no ties, I googled him theres no Steinhoff connection as far as I can see.

Let's make it more interesting.

Have du Plessis and Jooste worked together prior to du Plessis being appointed to Phumelela?

How did Larry go from Concerned Owner rabble rouser "barbarian at the gate" to the main man at the RA? Was there a meeting between Larry and Jooste prior to the appointment being announced and who was at this meeting?

Does the name George Rautenbach and Megapro have any connection to Lyndon Barends?

Follow the dots......

There is lots more but I want people to start thinking.

Naughty boy James! Here I am trying to show the intricate web that Jooste has spun and you jumping way ahead of the plot. Sure, Dr. Len Konar is a piece of the puzzle, but lets get the corners and the borders done before adding him in. Just to whet the appetite:

DR KONAR IS THE DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF THE SUPERVISORY BOARD OF STEINHOFF INTERNATIONAL HOLDINGS N.V., HAVING BEEN APPOINTED AS A SUPERVISORY BOARD DIRECTOR IN NOVEMBER 2015.

Dr Konar, having been appointed to the Steinhoff International Holdings Limited board in 1998, was appointed chairman of the board in September 2008 and held various committee positions, including chairman of the audit and risk committee. He acted as chairman of the supervisory board for the period 30 November 2015 to 31 May 2016 and is currently chairman of the governance and nomination committees and a member of the audit and risk and human resources and remuneration committees.

Dr Konar is an independent consultant and professional director. Prior positions include executive director of internal audit portfolio and head of investments at the Independent Development Trust, and Professor and Head of the Department of Accountancy at the University of Durban Westville. He is a past patron of the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa, and a member of the King Committee on Corporate Governance in South Africa, the Corporate Governance Network and the Institute of Directors. He was appointed chairperson of the ministerial panel for the review of the regulation of accountants and auditors in South Africa in 2003 and served as chairman of the external Audit Committee of the International Monetary Fund. Dr Konar is also a non executive director of Lonmin Plc, Alexander Forbes Group Holdings Limited, Sappi Limited and Exxaro Resources Limited.

Here's the rub. He is also the past chairman of the Jockey Club...........

Fingers, yes you are correct, initially they were part of this CO group then they weren't. The question that needs answering is who did they meet with prior to being rewarded for their betrayal of the rest of the group and just as importantly who were at that meeting?
