Jack Milner: Piere Strydom strikes out in Mauritius

AUGUST 4, 2019
It appears that Piere Strydom’s sojourn in Mauritius has come to an abrupt end following news from the island that he had been fired from his job with Rameshwar Gujadhur.

It appears that everybody but Strydom was aware of the fact. “Apparently it’s been announced,” said Strydom. “I’m not sure what I did wrong but I know I found interference in one race.

“All I’ve been told is that I was fired because I didn’t win.”

It does seem a strange decision considering Strydom has ridden some amazing winners for the stable since he arrived there in May.

At this stage he is uncertain when he will be heading home but he it could be this week. However, he will not be riding at Turffontein on Saturday.

I am sure on the Island they are a law to themselves.

No jockey representative?
Labour laws etc
Contract ? Did it specific how many winners vs mounts

Appear a bit ruthless but the Stipes are strict.

He is just too good to be ignored, hopefully someone back home will sees the opportunity to offer him some decent rides. Gavin is out for a couple of weeks, Woodruff will make no mistake to rope in Striker for the next couple of weeks. That is to say if he's coming back from the Island.
