Obama was always a proponent of gas (fracking) exploration, he wanted cleaner energy. Biden messed the statement up during the debate, and had to clear up the intended message which he said meant, no fracking on Federal land - alas the damage was done which the Trump campaign used against Biden and the loss of jobs which would result from that "error" in speech.

Oil exploration off (be it) Mexican Gulf or Alaskan coast, different story, the lobbyist are winning that fight, and will continue to do so. The sell to the people is "we will become less dependent on Middle East oil", less money spent abroad and bigger tax savings on you the people". The US is the largest consumer of crude oil, until electric cars become more affordable to everyone, then things might change in oil exploration.

Trump was talked out of bombing Tehran last week. Is he mad? He wants to start a war thinking that if he does he can stay in power while it’s going on. This is how desperate he is to hold on as he knows what’s coming the minute that he is no longer President.
