Whip debate.....Bling
2 years 3 months ago
I have been following the whip debate leading up to Cheltenham and wondering how AP would have adjusted.
I am aware we have various threads running but after Bling won on Bless My Stars he was fined 25 grand.
I must say watching the race I thought Feather Boa was 1/5 ,"in running " just looking at the body language of Fourie.
Disqualification is being considered as a deterrent?
Any comments

IMHO if the jockey gets a fine for excessive use of the whip there should be a cut off as to how many over the limit leads to disqualification. 1 or 2 over then a fine but 3 or more then disqualification would probably be my thoughts.

Bling did everything he could to get the horse first across the line.

Just not within the rules as they are...I'd much rather lose a bet than have a panel beater be the rider of a winning bet...
Each to this own I guess...

Serious question.
If you backed Bling in that race, will you phone up the bookmaker to rather take the money back you just won, because the jockey broke the “rules”?

While on the subject of talking shite……….
Is the following true?
The Plight Of Retired Racehorses In South Africa
South Africa / By Greater Good SA / February 8, 2023
When a horse retires from racing in South Africa, their retirement options are limited. The majority of ex-racehorses are sold at auction, with the majority of those being bought by slaughterhouses. In South Africa, there is no legislation in place to protect retired racehorses from being sent to slaughter. This means that many horses end up being slaughtered for their meat, which is then exported to countries such as China and Japan. There are a small number of sanctuaries and retirement homes for ex-racehorses in South Africa, but these are often full and cannot take in all of the horses that need help. The situation for retired racehorses in South Africa is dire, and something needs to be done to help these horses.

What about the punters of the 2nd horse that were beaten by a horse that was hit illegally?
