Horseracing is perceived by the general public, non-horseracing public, to be cruel inasfar that the RSPCA and other SPCA’s demand the Racing Associations to change. The former associations have the powers to close down horseracing. We should listen to them. The whip, irrespective of its fabrication, is seen or perceived to be cruel. So too were spurs.

My view - If the whip rule gets exceeded by 1 extra hit - disqualify the horse to last place.Applies to all stake cheque winners - Stewards check this before bets are made all clear.

Should striking a horse over the limit not be treated the same as running a horse with a banned substance in its system?

Yip rules should be rules. As soon as you getting an unfair advantage, while the rest are keeping within the rules, you should get disqualified full stop.
