Just get rid of the whips now. It will happen sometime in the future anyway.

NHRA needs to expand the rules for this violation
1. Put penalties in place per MR Band. up to grade 1 or such
2. Have a license demerit type system similar to F1
I would allow whips in 2 year old races as only a method keeping the going in straight line and then expand each season if u wanna stop this penalty all together
for Bling and the others who know the rules, bend them as far as u can until NHRA catches up. They there to win the race for the connections.

Going around in circles - and every one and his dog have opinions
Imo the 'max strokes' can never be enforced in practice, so there are only 2 scenarios to consider:
1 - Whips ARE NOT inflicting any physical harm on the horses - in which case discretion should be in the hands of the jock - if he feels the horse needs the 'sound' of the whip, he should be allowed to use it - no 'max strokes' enforced
OR
2 - Whips ARE inflicting harm on the horses - in which case they should be done away with

The issue is global not local. What has the ANC said?

.....tongue in cheek....some of us like to stick it to the general populace....but this whip issue is a farce.....and although I am in the opinion that the riding crop is an important tool and has to be used conservatively and it cannot be abused
.....offending jocks should soon learn to either count under a driving finish or pay for NHRA bonus's .... or to go spending on trips to discuss international trends on whip usage....we keep on dragging on with this issue which is not really the cruelty to these animals.... but what is more important is what happens to them when they are no longer wanted in racing....

@Mac - whether the issue is global or local is not the point - what I tried to get across that I don't give 2 iotas what the 'general public' thinks - whether they are global or local - locally as an example the 'general public' voted the ANC into power, globally as an example this 'woke' craze is just crazy imo - anyway let me calm down - I do have a 'telephonic consultation' with SARS this afternoon
