@ Fingers.

I am not taking any bookmakers side. I am limited with all the major online bookies.

There is a difference between a tie and draw in Test cricket, so in retrospect they do not have to payout. The best you could hope for in your case if you could have proved that they did not have a market for a tie so you would have got a refund.

In Basketball and Handball after normal time, for the scores to be level are rare hence the big odds in those markets if you not wagering a bet including over time. But the scores to be level do happen after normal time.

THANK YOU, Easy

You both do understand that the process of ' applying for a rule change ' takes months don't you ?

I won't bore you with the details because it wouldn't fit your delusional narratives, but the process goes through several steps before even being considered by the relevant Gambling Boards. .
Yawn, yawn – go take your tablets and keep taking them for your ‘i know it all’ personality

wsb changes a rule overnight and the gauteng gambling board underwrites it within a week

Almost 7 years ago they decided not to pay out on the draw in a test cricket match – they claimed it was a tie– when I queried this I was told I should have read their rules and again quoted the tie rule in cricket (in the history of test cricket I think there were ever only 2 ties)

To the gambling board I go and low and behold, they ratified this new approach to test cricket rules by this bookie.

When I posted this on this website (not mentioning the bookies name) , one member immediately said this could only have been wsb!
Lol - all of this because of an incident that happened 7 years ago where you didn't know the difference in cricket terms.

Not one to hold a perpetual grudge are you :woohoo:

only saw this now it seems you are confused

of course there is a difference between a draw and a tie in test cricket - a draw is always quoted in the betting and a tie is never quoted

a tie in test cricket has only happened twice in the history of test cricket - A tied test is a test cricket match in which the side batting second is bowled out in the fourth innings, with scores level.
This match was a draw - rained out and a draw result declared.
(a tied test is paid out as follows - the draw is a loser and dead heat rules apply to the 2 sides)

they should have paid out on the draw, but they CLAIMED it was a tie and refused to pay out on the draw, which the gauteng gambling agreed with

@Fingers.

Apologies.

This is what you quoted

"Almost 7 years ago they decided not to pay out on the draw in a test cricket match – they claimed it was a tie– when I queried this I was told I should have read their rules and again quoted the tie rule in cricket (in the history of test cricket I think there were ever only 2 ties)"

I was under the impression the game did end in a 'tie' / scores level hence the confusion.

Also for a draw result in Test cricket with a bookmaker, a minimum number overs has to be bowled due to be paid out. A lot of punters does not know this.

are you been deliberately obtuse or just plain stupid

And @ Naresh - vast majority of bookies bet to the rule "one ball has to be bowled and all bets stand" - I think wos and that other one where that fella hassen used to work started this "150 overs has to be bowled" thing for draw bets - not many others have it

@Fingers. Play nice.

Not once I have questioned your intellect. I have also apologized as you will have seen as I thought the match really ended in a tie, your statement about the tie/draw was ambiguous hence the confusion.

I do not put a person a down if they need assistance or any rules, etc when I can help.

As I stated previously, I have been limited with all the big bookmakers and will always want the punter to win.

Lastly I might be stupid but the quote on the perpetual grudge was not from me. I am not here on the forum to criticize other contributors or hold grudges against them.
