2 years 2 months agoLast year airways law was raised 18 points for winning the cup trial. Any opinion on the likelihood of Rockpool getting into the July around 54kg, should he win the trial?
SNAITH is a past master of blagging a July spot

2 years 2 months agoCan Dave the King beat See It Again in the July ?
I would say NO - will probably come in at level weights - so even though Dave the King may be ridden a little more patiently, I can't see a reason why he should finish in front of See It Again - but there will be 18 runners and a lot of jostling down that straight; still all being equal, I can't see Dave the King beating See It Again in the July

I’m puzzled as to why Airways Law still in nominations. I would have thought it would be pulled out. Not sure Nel’s thinking here. Hasn’t run or done enough since last year. Has not run since Met month and expected it to at least be in Cup Trial? But not, and there are no other options to qualify.

GOLD CIRCLE MEDIA RELEASE – Hollywoodbets Durban July Log
Gold Circle issued the second and final Log for the 2023 Hollywoodbets Durban July (HDJ) earlier today and there has been very little movement since the initial log went out some two weeks ago.
Anfields Rocket has been scratched from the race following his disappointing effort in the Daily News 2000 over the weekend and his place in the top twenty on the log has been taken by the Dynasty filly Time Flies, who finished second behind Rain In Holland but ahead of third-placed Winter Darling in Saturday’s Woolavington 2000 (Gr 1).
The final supplementary entry stage is on Tuesday 13 June, three days after the running of the Hollywoodbets Gold Challenge on Saturday 10 June. The final field and Barrier Draw announcement takes place on Tuesday 20 June and the HDJ gallops will take place from 07:00 on Thursday 22 June.
The top twenty on the latest HDJ Log are listed below in order of preference, noting that the top five are all guaranteed a run in terms of the conditions:-

Imo SILVER Darling (don't know where they find WINTER Darling) ran below form in the Woolavington and I think she will beat both Rain in Holland (especially receiving weight) and Time Flies in the July

Because of his rating of 122.

Zapatillas and Shoemaker of course half-brothers - I always thought Zapatillas better over less ground - but Shoemaker ran on in the Daily News last week - so maybe they will see out the 2200 - I still prefer others - especially seeing that Zapatillas might be a bit ring-rusty

I think Sammy is aware they have 'golden tickets' - question is if these race should be used to get into the July on a 'golden ticket'

From the Breeders Cup to the Melbourne Cup there is races that if you win, you qualify automatically. If some of these Win And You In races are won by horses deemed inferior or the race was of poor quality there is not much the host of the race in this case the July can do as it was part of their qualification process.
