Re: HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE SATURDAY 04 MAY
1 year 1 month agoThanks...my feelings too. It feels like entrapment with complete disregard to the punting public.Based on the previous debacle with the Peters it looks like some power trip official determined to expose some corrupt Peters behaviour more from grudge than in interest of the industry.
If all concerned knew the horse was tested, the results communicated to the connections well before the public announcement then this BS could have been nipped in the bud.
Is this decision not to benefit the punting public...............horses being "juiced to the hilt"... and a few inciders (cuzzies) empty their pockets and we the punting public take it up the ...while some crooks are smiling...this has to end....if we lose a meeting .....or two....so what?

The entire field for the Drill Hall was tested for TCO- this has to be done once the horses are at the course, and is done less than an hour before the race. I have been told that 3 horses were above the limit on the first test. The protocol then allows for a further test 15 minutes later. The trainers are present and kept informed of the test results of their horses. On the second test, only Main Defender was above the limit. Hence, as per the rules was scratched, and a third test is then done, to determine what further action will be taken against the trainer.
While it is obviously a major problem for punters when a strongly fancied horse is scratched for excessive TCO, this is clearly in the long term interests of racing- ie. to clean up the malpractices.
Let's be clear- the real villains here are the trainers who try to cheat.
The disruptive actions of the people who then blocked the exit chute are inexcusable- especially if they are connections of the offending horse, as has been reported.
What I find bizarre, is that Gold Circle management failed to have these protesters forcibly removed from the course. There were reportedly just a handful of protesters.

Imagine how RF feels...5 winners that he could not ride, and his harsh sentence for 1 additional use of the pool noodle has taken 14 days from his calendar, affects how everyone involved with him, now have to walk on eggs...

@PeterD,
GC Management showed their weakness in their readiness for such situations and their decision making process....
Absolute BS when the industry needs to suffer because of the actions of a few who know what they are doing is not fair play.... time to clean up and if the game is better off without these underhand tactics...who is comaplaining????? Bring it on bitches....

Any shenanigans imo are difficult to enforce without affecting the 'honest' guys - I assume horses can be tested earlier (at the stables ?) - but then what is to stop the 'crooks' to administer some illegal substance later - it seems that testing is done on all horses (which is fair). I also wonder if there is not a different way to detect 'elevated TCO levels' (I assume this involves extracting blood using needles) - which means that repeated tests (as was apparently the case with Zeus) need to be done (when the first test fails) - which (I assume again) put the horse under stress ?
Is this happening in the rest of the world as well ? If so, surely the NHA can learn from others? It seems that the NHA is unwilling to put their cards on the table apart from the press releases - which imo is not saying enough.
I think the principle is clear - should anyone be involved in administering 'illegal substances' this needs to be stopped - but how ?

Any badgeholders involved in the protest should be banned from the racecourse. Nobody should be bigger than the game.
This Peters family have a lot to answer for, including the Summer Cup day breakfast bust up. NHA indecisiveness has allowed Stalingrad tactics to be used. The cases are stacking up and the Man City playbook cannot be used forever.

I still think Peter Yard are good for racing. NHRA have a bias against the yard. Until the TCO2 levels issue is resolved we all guessing.

Firstly,
Tell us what does the Peter's yard bring to the game that is "good for racing"?
and secondly,
What TCO2 levels issues are questionable?

To those with more knowledge, can anyone explain the improved performance of some horses that moved to this new trainer after unperforming when previously trained by highly experienced trainers?
Different feed, different environment, different training regime, better placement, etc...

Are the alleged positive tests a result of the NHRA bias or are they just positive tests? Is any positive test "good for racing"?

Re: HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE SATURDAY 04 MAY
1 year 1 month agoThis happened years ago at one of the Joburg tracks if I remember correctly? They sat across the finishing line ?Maybe one of the "senior" members of the Forum can jog our memories?
I am pretty sure this incident took place at Gosforth Park where Jeff Lloyd placed 5th objected against the winner ridden by Willie Uys .Objection was upheld .
They put chairs on the finishing line and sat on it and I'm pretty sure they also protested outside the jockey rooms .
