......not that the times really matter as the pacier sorts showed they are quicker....but for me the best were 8on18 although he did not hit his top straps he is an imposing race horse.....and surprisingly Native Ruler but I may be biased as I am a sucker for the flashy chestnuts....

As you say, times are a bit confusing (and who is to say they are correct) - but from the times recorded I think 8 on 18 was not that great (belying his short odds) - can't have Native Ruler - best gallop of the morning (but I am biased) was On My Honour - IF they are correct - to quicken off a fast pace (44.9 for the 800-finish) and a not too shabby 22.69 (2nd fastest of the morning, despite jumping a shadow close to the finish) for the 400-finish, I think 4.66/1 for the first 4 is a steal

I agree Frodo, good value.

What am I missing with Immediate Edge? 7/1 and beat Olivia's Way when in receipt of 1.5kgs... what odds would Olivia's Way be in this field carrying 54.5kgs?

Immediate Edge is a real dark horse imo, as we don't know how good he is; Olivia's Way I think the connections might have decided that they would rather stay in Gauteng (I have heard rumours of an entry into the Summer Cup) - but the way she runs, they might have thought Greyville might not suit her

Also of the opinion that On My Honour put up a very good gallop.

Whilst many fancy Immediate Edge, still believe that he is the worst weighted horse in the race. Not for me.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

......when drilling into the pedigrees On My Honour was my dark horse as his tail(dam) line has stout stamina genes....however he seems a bit immature and spooked at a small shadow and again at the pullup into the poly....I would not discount his chances totally.... and if they go slow at the jump and he keeps the box seat and stays near the rail in the final drive he may make those swingers pay.....but if the jock takes him down the middle and he finds those late afternoon shadows.....oops

Immediate Edge won that race similar to the July Gallops - it was just a "keep safe", point him in the right direction and let him gallop. It was facile and I wouldnt even look at the weights, winning margin etc. If he was ridden out, he could have won by 5L or more... Given how professionally he raced and won, I think he will give them a go this July. Dubai contender eventually.

The Jubilee Stakes race, Immediate Edge was weighted to win

Hopefully he would have seen the shadows today, (I suppose they would like to keep the track in pristine condition, so no chance of having a canter again next week  ) - but yes that would a worry ...
