Most riders in the UK ride 7 days a week and can on any given day have up to 12 mounts. Afternoon and evening meetings in the summer. They fly from meeting to meeting rise at 5 in the morning and dont get to bed until 10. So they are fit both physically and mentally.

So what are we to make of the riding performance figures for the 2001 Flat season? In many ways they are the most revealing for years.

Topping the table on 13_1 is Craig Williams, the Australian who was the subject of a much-publicised split from Mick Channon's yard last year and is currently booting home winners in Dubai. To storm to the top of the ladder in only his second season riding here is remarkable.

He finished the narrowest margin ahead of Michael Roberts and Frankie Dettori in joint-second spot. The latest ratings confirm that Dettori and Roberts, in that order, have been consistently the best jockeys riding in Britain over the past decade.

Muis Roberts became champion jockey in the UK riding 7 days a week.
He also rode 2 meetings a day. He won races in France, Ireland etc.
He won many group 1 races with a horse called Mtoto.
Muis used to be physically and mentally strong.
He was one step ahead of those jockeys in the UK.

One of the leading jockeys' in the UK used to like to dictate the pace of the races.
Muis decided if he had a horse that had no chance of winning the race he would go to
front of the field and mess up the pace of the race. One of the leading
jockeys' asked him why he did that and he said " I'm not stupid like the other jockeys
to let you dictate the pace of the race and win it."

Yes and England won the World Cup in 1966. That will never happen again. Roberts was and remains the exception. He was a great great horseman.

There were four features at Clairwood today, the Godolphin Barb, the Strelizia, the Poinsettia, and the Anton Marcus. What a great set of rides!

Thanks Tero. I hope that it is ideed the case. I for one will be the mighty glad as Marcus always seem to f@k up my bets. 6 winners at 1 meeting. Now lets see how long it takes him to bag another winner.

6 winners 2day. I dont hav access to the latest stats so I'm hoping you guys can help me here. How many did he ride the whole week? Also how many winners did Gavin L, Felix C, and the other multiple winners bag this week. I am betting Anton's 6 just brought him up to speed with the rest.

Tuesday for me would be great.

Anton Marcus put up, in International compeition in the Duty Free, perhaps the best ride any of us have ever seen.

I have raced all over the world and I can tell you that he is a bona fide, first class talent.

He also is an actual horseman, not just a rider.

Chicken, you are a negative a hole without any discernable life.
