Re: RUSSIA/UKRAINE
3 years 2 months agoEvery morning you wake up and turn on the news you just hope that this nightmare for Ukraine has ended. It’s getting worse.
It's very sad
Have also noticed the same toe rags that go against the grain on every big issue are now speaking up against the Ukraine..
Trump fans are saying Biden is weak (Trump hid from every conflict/issue under the banner "putting America first)
Brexiteers are already moaning about the UK's schools being over crowded and we can't take any refugees
The anti covid vaxxers and conspirators are the ones saying Ukraine have American biological weapon Labs and not to listen to the world press...
get the picture chicken?

@bob...sorry that not all of us are of the same mind that you and others have...I know it can be frustrating that everyone doesn't sing off the same hymn sheet so the resultant noise can be irritating...
"toe rags"? Surely you can come up with a better / worse epithet to throw...
It's highly possible that one can be critical of and anti the Russian invasion of Ukraine AND understand why it happened...advancing an argument for why it happened is no support of the action...it is merely to open minds to the possibility that maybe the supposed good guys are not as good as we blindly accept them to be...
I'm not anti-vax or whatever the current term is...I'm just not for something that wants to be a vaccine but falls short...for those it helps, I am extremely happy...let each person decide for themselves rather than forcing it down people's throats...when a vaccinated person tests positive, how do they determine if they were infected by an unvaccinated person or a fellow vaccinated person? Without that certainty, how do you convince me that an unvaccinated person poses a danger to those around them? Just simple questions to which answers are not forthcoming...and sadder still is the attempt to tie up trial and side-effects data and information for 75 years...
We are on this forum to share what little we know and respect the intelligence of each of our fellow Clanners to make rational decisions...who decides what is mis/dis information when for every authority pushing their narrative there is a counter from another authority and deliberate attempts to silence anyone outside of the hive...
Stay safe...

I will give you and others the option, do you think Russia is wrong because of this invasion? - let's not call it a war, just a land grab, what happened in Zimbabwe and certain parts of South Africa.

@bayern...it's plain wrong whatever the term used...Putin / Russia should have pursued diplomatic efforts to have their legitimiate concerns about NATO expansion addressed and invading Ukraine was a failure by all parties involved...millions displaced, thousands likely dead, infrastructure that took years to build destroyed in seconds...there are no winners when violence is used as an attempted "solution"...

Ukraine is NOT part of NATO, when we last checked, tell me where we've got it wrong that Ukraine are part of NATO. Are you saying Ukraine has no right to self governance? You honestly believe this is a legitimate concern on the part of Russia - who is responsible for the (now) displacement?
Do you, or anyone else on this site agree with the land grabs in Zimbabwe or South Africa, are legal, that's all i ask? You appear to avoid this question. If you and the others agree this is "legal", I am confused, and i apologise.

@bayern...the land grabs are not legal, as I understand the law...I'm trying to understand why the comparison...
Ukraine may not be a part of NATO but NATO's eastward expansion has taken them to the point where there are only 3 countries between Russia and greater NATO members...two small NATO members already border Russia...
NATO's reach once ended at East Germany...just check a map of how far east they have expanded...Russia has China to contend with to their east and NATO's expansion to their west...yes, Ukraine is a sovereign land that can make it's own associations and that is why diplomacy was the route Russia had to pursue / continue to ensure that their concerns were addressed in any decision Ukraine made with respect to NATO membership...invasion, war, land grab, etc is / was wrong...
Remember that Ukraine had a pro-Russian president from 2010 to 2014 but that didn't meet with NATO/US wishes so they had him overthrown to be replaced by anti-Russian Poroshenko and now Zelenskyy...there are no good guys in any of this stemming from as recently as 2014...Ukraine is merely the playing field for massive egos and pro and anti Russian puppets with the resultant death and distruction and displacement...has this not played out in other parts of the world so many times before?...Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc are some that come to mind immediately
Really tragic and sad...

3 years 2 months ago@bayern...the land grabs are not legal, as I understand the law...I'm trying to understand why the comparison... Good to see we agree it's illegal. Because two were committed against private citizens (in Zim and SA), this is against a country, and below you acknowledge it's wrong.
Ukraine may not be a part of NATO but NATO's eastward expansion has taken them to the point where there are only 3 countries between Russia and greater NATO members...two small NATO members already border Russia...
What has this got to do with the price of eggs?
NATO's reach once ended at East Germany...just check a map of how far east they have expanded...Russia has China to contend with to their east and NATO's expansion to their west...yes, Ukraine is a sovereign land that can make it's own associations and that is why diplomacy was the route Russia had to pursue / continue to ensure that their concerns were addressed in any decision Ukraine made with respect to NATO membership...invasion, war, land grab, etc is / was wrong... I don't get it, why must Russia have a say in the decisions that Ukraine want to make?
Remember that Ukraine had a pro-Russian president from 2010 to 2014 but that didn't meet with NATO/US wishes so they had him overthrown to be replaced by anti-Russian Poroshenko and now Zelenskyy...there are no good guys in any of this stemming from as recently as 2014...Ukraine is merely the playing field for massive egos and pro and anti Russian puppets with the resultant death and distruction and displacement...has this not played out in other parts of the world so many times before?...Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc are some that come to mind immediately The Presidents from 2014, was that not the will of the Ukrainian people? I find it strange that because the Presidents from 2014 are anti-Russia (as you put it), they are not good guys. Do you hold the same view of Biden seeing the guy you supported in 2020 lost the Election?
Really tragic and sad...

Coincidentally, Iran fired missiles at USA embassy in Iraq last night.

In Moscow a man buys a newspaper
He glances at the front page and ditches the paper in the bin. The next day the same and the next and the next.
On the 15th day the seller looks at him and says “why do you only look at the front page then throw the paper away.”
“I am looking for an obituary” “Obituaries are not on the front page explains the seller”
“ Oh the one I am looking for will be”
Aren’t we all.
