"Any country supporting Taiwan militarily would face the "worst consequences," China's government warned Saturday, adding that "no one and no force" would be able to stop the Communist Party if it took action against the island country, according to a report".

I wonder why this report came out now?

Adding to your above post Lionel I see that North Korea has fired a missle into the Japanese sea. Also South Korea has just elected a hardliner against North Korea. Big problems arising. WW3????

@bayern...the 2014 overthrow of the Yanukovychh government was supported by the State Department and CIA...there is a recording of a State Department official, Victoria Yuland, disussing who would be in the new US installed government...so "will of the Ukrainian people" after the overthrow of the government...soley to install a puppet that would covet NATO membership...was that not wrong?

ronpaulinstitute.org/archives/featured-a...gate-deceptions.aspx

Russian involvement in Ukrainian decision making stems solely from where NATO (an organisation formed after WW2 solely against the USSR) would be if Ukraine were to become a member of NATO...right on the border of Russia when 25-30 years ago they were at East German border...who has been intimidatory with the eastward expansion?

@bayern...I have no dispute with you or fellow Clanners as this is not our fight...it saddens me though that black and white lines have been picked when there a a host of grey shades that should make one question if there are any good guys despite the media narrative and projection...

Putin / Russia are wrong to invade another country...that does not absolve other parties for their roles in the escalation...in the end, millions, without the power of decision-making, are the biggest losers...the oligarchs and politicians already had the means and resources to insulate themselves for as long as they need to...and the sanctions are merely pushing up prices for everyone else to feel the pain...

Now they have dropped bombs just 12 miles from the Polish border. NATO forces have to be on standby ready to go as Putin is now looking for it

It's leading up to a point of no return, CnC. Whether or not it's a WW3 depends on how the other countries react. All I know is that it is "strap your seat belt on" time, and hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

This phone call, do you have it, have you heard it, or did you read about it? Share it with us if you know how to access it. This chap, Daniel McAdams, he obviously disagrees with everything American. He has said Israel acts with impunity in the Middle East, because the US has it's back. He makes all these controversial interviews not on any US tv networks/channels, wonder why that is, when the US is all for free speech.

Still don't understand why you think former USSR states cannot choose their rights to self-determination - why should they consult/speak to Russia (Putin) first. I assume you married, did you have to obtain your parents permission to do so?, i sincerely hope not.

I also feel there is only one person on the planet that thinks Putin is the good guy in this war - Putin himself.

Sadly that's the risk of being a journalist covering a war.

Mike, here's a simple analogy.

For the sake of discussion, let's say Mexico wants to join a Russian backed alliance, should Mexico seek/ask the USA's permission to do so?

Why should Russia have a say in what Ukraine does? What the presenter is suggesting, if a sovereign Nation is subordinate to a bordering Nation, then they a Colony, then that's Imperialism - this is an Imperialist take - this isn't Anti-Imperialism.

The real question here is, does Ukraine have a say in what Russia does?, the answer is no. Does Ukraine get to control Russia? If it's not Imperialistic and equal, Russia would have to consider Ukraine, but they don't. Why?, because one side has the military power.

If a sovereign Nation is subordinate to another through force, it's Imperialism.

Before responding, look up the meaning of imperialism, look forward to chatting.

Bayern without going round and round in circles it's quite simple really.
1. If Mexico was to align with Russia and install missiles and military hardware..... that would be a threat to the US?
Would never happen in a 1000 years.
2 Just as you living in your suburb would probably encourage the Squatter Camps to mushroom around your neighborhood.
Without losing any sleep.

Sleep well.

Agreed, it would be a threat to the US national security, to be fair, what did Ukraine install, yet they have been attacked. Oddly enough, our suburb is surrounded by informal settlements, i don't believe we have the right to burn them out though. The drug wars worry me more. I digress.
