Victor Chandler - smallest bookmaker in South Africa ?

I had some winning bets with Victor Chandler. Out of the seven winners I backed only one shortened - all of the rest there was the same or better price available at racetime.
They cut my limit to 100 rand of a horse without any warning or communication.
With customer service like this, they should go back to the UK.

Thanks Pirates - I have heard Ricky Sin lays decent bets. I'm not a huge punter, but not a huge mug either. Will give them a try.

To win R100...or 10 pounds....mmmm.

Says "Victor Chandler is chairman of the company that bears his name, Victor Chandler International.
Frequently styled ‘The Gentleman Bookmaker’[1], in 2006 The Racing Post described Chandler as "arguably the most famous bookmaker in the world. He's the Indiana Jones of bookmaking, the fearless, swashbuckling rails layer who lit up Britain's racecourses for two decades....the gold prospector who excavated rich new revenue seams internationally, the visionary, the dashing pioneer who turned the industry inside out by upping and moving to Gibraltar in 1998."

Not shining in South Africa, are they?

Hi Guys, I agree fully with Pirates. Ricky Sin is a bookmaker that is not affraid of laying big bets. He is also known as a person to swear and shout a lot, but he treats his punters well.
Otherwise shop around for a while for the right bookmaker. South Africa have enough bookmakers.

Bennie D writes ........Hi Guys, I agree fully with Pirates.

True we treats his punters well.........gave me back my R1k.

When he had the bookie in Randburg with Lance and Phil Arnold, Clive Dunbar worked for him.
Clive asked me to open an account as Ricky wanted Clive to recruit punters at the time.

I arrived the Saturday morning, and Clive entered my details on the system. On completion he turned to Ricky to negotiate a limit for me.
Ricky replied - DEPOSIT ACCOUNT ONLY!

Well, I had just draw R1000 from the Standard Bank ATM downstairs, and handed the money to CLIVE (who was a bit embarrassed by then).

I sat down at the bar and paged thru the Computerforms for Cape and Gauteng writing down 5 horses.
Took it to Clive, he entered the 5 horse ATC......
Asked how much I wanted to play!
Put the full R1000 on, I said!
The bet came to R3,4m.
Clive informed Ricky, Ricky approved (lol - he could not refuse)

Well, the first won, the 2nd won, the 3 won - and Ricky walked up to me - gave me my R1000 back - account closed - no bet ever - not even cash!
The 4th horse - Kings Consort lost in photo finish!
The 5th horse won!

A few week later on a Sunday I arrived to back 1 horse ISPHAAN - david kuit up - 25/1 - got R25k from all the bookies, but Ricky - no bet!

Maybe he will consider an account for me again?
