TA and BW may run places at best but I just don't rate the 3 year old colts as good as the 4 year old colts......black Wing, btw is one of my fav race horses, but this is a tough race.

This will be my last post on the July - 'off-line' from tomorrow for a week - I leave the Igugu supporters with this final observation:
There is a formline where Emerald Cove beat Flirtation by 0.75 lengths (receiving 5,5 kg's) - so at level weights that makes Flirtation about 4.75 lenghts better than EC - in the July Filirtation has to give EC 1.5 kg's - so F should beat EC 'comfortably' (3 lengths?). Igugu beat EC the other day (admittedly easing up) by 2.75 lengths at level weights - I now has to give EC 2 kg's, so even optimistically should not be too far in front of EC - so perhaps should finish close to Flirtation - ON THIS FORM.
There are other formlines that show that Flirtation should struggle at the weights - so make up your own minds - I don't make Igugu any value at current prices.
I studied the race some more since receiving the Computaform - 3 yr old colts much of a muchness imo - the exception is Castlethorpe who may not get the trip, but is surely good each way value at current odds. Nothing else has jumped out at me to change my first two selections:
Bravura from Superstorm with Castlethorpe the best outsider.

Just to add another 5c here.......everyone also heard Mike Bass' comments and he seems to like English Garden the most of his and nobody is giving this one a mention? My selections will be from these 4 in no particular order - Run For It, English Garden, Igugu and The Apache.

So it was not my last word - sorry;) ; Mike Bass also says in his news letter that it won't surprise him if any of his horses finishes in front of the others

Stephen if you have a look at the first four in the Daily News at level weights, the handicapper would have used one of them as a line horse, more than likely English Garden. If he believed English Garden ran to his ability being a 108 he would remain at that mark. Both The Apache and Run For It beat him by a relatively small margin but enough to warrant them being rate 1 point higher than him, therefore The Apache going from 107 to 109 and Run For It dropping from 111 to 109 as he would feel they are both of similar ability. Black Wing who ran 0,75 lenghts behing in fourth was increased from 100 to 107 on that run so on the Daily News run the horses rating and differences are as follows:
1) The Apache 109 0.00
2) Run For It 109 0.10
3) English Garden 108 0.20
4) Black Wing 107 0.95
Running in a handicap next time out the handicapper on the Daily News run would expect these four to vertually finish in a line.
The reason for horses like Past Master, Big City Life, Castlethorpe, Sudden Storm and others that ran on the 13th June is that no weight changes can into effect after the weights were published on the 7th June. So horses performing well on the 13th are better handicapped and horses that performed badly are under sufference.
1) The Apache 109 0.00
2) Run For It 109 0.10
3) English Garden 108 0.20
4) Black Wing 107 0.95
