Top Jockeys ride more Favourites..
Favourites get tumbled roughly 70% of the time.
A lot of the Favourites the top jocks ride are in Maiden races and novice races where reputation and guess work by stables and punters help makes the Favourite status.

As of 13th December, Karl Neisius this season has ridden 37 winners, 29 seconds, 24 thirds, and 24 fourths. Not exactly married to the 4th box, is he? Someone has to finish 4th, and for what it's worth of the 12 jockeys ahead of him in the log this season all of Fourie, G Lerena, Marcus, Mansour and David have all finished 4th more times than they have finished 3rd.
I don't think it means a damn thing, really, but there you are.

Congrats Magiclips! Yours was the 4th comment after posting mine, so I guess Gregbucks needs to hand over the trophy to you!
I love this forum. Lots of comments are made in good spirits, some not so of course. People like me living in a town where there is no horseracing, and no opportunities to mingle with horseracing folks, get to rub shoulders and listen to comments of great racing folks, a real priviledge and something to look forward to everyday. I have had some really good laughs over the past few weeks and have also learnt so much! Cheers to everyone making contributions.

Like i said, i am not interested in any figures / results. This just happens too often and the punters must keep this in mind.

i have no doubt this is a possibility, but there are also other possibilities. I have seen freakier results than if Ebony beats WaW.....and DJ is beatable as well.
It would really help if someone out there knows home many lengths superior DJ is over Liancourt (if he is infact better).

The problem with these issues is,that if regulation is non-existent,it allows everyone an opinion that cannot be proven either way.The advantage of strong sensible regulation is that it will cause a lot of these opinions to be left to the formal enquiries and investigations.
Nothing brings racing into disrepute more than poor and weak regulation,as wild speculation, regardlss of balance, scars the industry.
I know that, for me,I would like to see the stipes asking the questions, some of which are fairly obvious, that I wish I could ask myself.
I sometimes wonder if the stipes even watch some races.
REGULATION would stop a lot of this nonsense!

Honest Karl...2 x 4...second in the P6 and fourth in the PA...
Seriously though...he really should have weighed in all those years ago, blotting his copy book and forever tarnishing his reputation. I have always wondered, since that day, why he never weighed in. He couldn't just have forgotten...could he?
That incident is a real pity because, he is a great jockey. One of the best that has ever ridden in SA. And at 50 something is still a seriously competitive force.

That's a bit self contradictory, isn't it?
