@Barry, do you or any of the clanners think Ebony Flyer can stay more than a mile?
The way she won the Majorca stakes and with her big stride I'm sure she will stay at least 10furlongs? She is so classy and is such a dominant figure, she is huge, I just hate to see her limited to a mile as I feel she can maybe go further, given her respiratory issues have been solved.

I maybe be very wrong and who am I to question the Snaiths and Barry Irwin, but I'm just saying a classy sort like EF should be tried at longer. She is a Jet master filly right? Look at how DWTD proved that she is not only a miler in the Summer Cup..

Just thinking out loud, don't ridicule me Barry, just wondering if you thinking along the same lines.

ShezaPunter, Ebony Flyer is compromised in the wind.

Were she clear winded, she undoubtedly would stay 10 furlongs.

But this is simply not the case.

She is like her sire in this regard.

EF is best at 1400m.

Ok thanks Barry, appreciate it mate..

I can't wait to see her in action again. I have backed her in every run she had up to date..

Including when she beat Igugu.. I managed to get her at 12/10 that day..2400/2000

Barry, i have been reading this thread in drips and drabs, but i have no idea why you are wanting EF at a higher rating? If you know she is better than her rating, you are ahead of the handicapper and in a very good position if you ask me to bag a few more big races? I am confused by this????

I would guess a match race EF vs Igugu over 1800mt would be a good draw card?

JustinV, when is the line horse chosen? Before a race or after the race? If it is before the race, why can it not be published in the race card?

We'd have to take 1/14 if the match was run over 1800m. Rather make it a mile. Will it be at levels or will Barry want EF to receive the 5kgs? (:P)

sharkie they decide on the line horse after the race, they look for the horse that ran closest to it's merit rating and adjust the others merit rating compared to the line horse. I'm sure that if a horse had some trouble in running they will consider that and not only with where it finished compared to the line horse.

FYI, you may be interested to know that Ebony Flyer today had a second operation to clean up part of the first throat operation that had begun to grow back. This should make it a little bit easier for her to breathe. She is getting about 50 percent of her air right now. Does this give you an idea of what kind of filly she might have been had she not been compromised in the wind. And somebody here would like to see her stretch out to 1800 meters? The gap between horsemen and punters is a wide one. These animals are not machines.
