miss Becky, I've got to agree with you, put a battling jock on a few decent horses ( like Marcus gets ) & that jock's stats will be very different, & so will his bank balance.

miss becky, so you actually agree with me then? he is riding bad/poor/off form horses and has been doing so FOR years!! maybe a change of scenery is in order? Maybe working at KFC or McDonalds or mmmm what about a sports physio or a plummer or a jockeys motivational speaker or a jockeys agent or a work rider in the usa or a punter (he must be a good judge, just had bad luck) or a candle stick maker (my mate chris has made millions in candles in SA (costas candles)) or a bus driver to kimberley (own bus with poker tables for the boys) or a doctor or an accountant

yep, like I said they just don't get the oppurtunities that the "top jocks" gets...and I believe that if some jocks gets more decent rides they will also become "top jockeys" in south africa, because they just never got the chance to prove themselves yet.

THEY all get the same chances..................... its about more than chance and luck and hard work and the right agent..... its about SKILL. A great agent (like me and others) can only book the rides and lots of them (like titch) the rest HAS to be ability.

how old is Devoy(how long has he been riding there and battling?)? I think we should be realistic - some riders are just that riders not jockeys- They have gone to the academy way too young and should never have chosen racing as a career(in many cases it's family members that want them to ride - at 15-16 do you really know what you want to do for the rest of your life?) i think riders should be over the age of 21 before the are allowed in the academy -

Mr H

at last someone tyhat agrees with me.

Miss Becky i am referring to ALL of them that are struggling in a "shitty" career (your words). They should all to a man/woman seek alternative employment.

A few months ago i spoke to Lance Lagel (hellava nice guy) , he told me that he was undergoing electricians course "just to have a back up"

The vast majority of jocks are doing ok. There are some that arent..... Like in any profession. And quite a few of those that arent seem to think that Racing actually owes them something. They are also poor mathematicians in that they think that if they pop by your ring once and work two horses, you owe them 100 rides.... As I said...some of them.
