The Kimberley Bus Broke down..

One of the reasons JP and Ray were driving was because of the un-reliability of the bus to and from Flamingo..

Yesterday some of the Jocks were picked up at 530 am the bus broke down lastnight and the replacement never got them home until 545am today,just in time to pick up their fresh kit and get to the Vaal (td)

This bus thing has been going on for a while now, what a disgrace....:X

Absolute disgrace that phumelele can't hire a descent bus for the lads that run the show for them they alwys just wanna pay bottom dollar whateva they do when it comes to transport

the jocks who ride in that shithole far far away from civilisation need to stick together and not ride at a few shithole meetings maybe them the fat fcuks who sit in their ivory towers watching the bottom line would do something about it...

is this not something that the JASA should be sorting out?

lets just get a reality check here. I am (an have been) a supporter of Kim racing both as an agent and as an onwer.
NO way do i agree that a bus should be in poor working condition BUT then i dont also agree that a bus should exist at all.

A jockey is a self employed individual, therefore he chooses to ride where he wants and gets paid for his rides. He should make his own way to and from work.

The reality of the situation is that there should be 5 or 6 jocks that actually live in kimberley and they should be the kings of the sand with "outside" jocks only coming in for visiting rides.

Sherman does not strike me as a "battling " jockey nor does gunter/muzi/fanie etc etc etc. So if you going to work and you going to earn R6k for the days works (excluding stakes) surely to god you could either FLY (expense deductable) or you and your cronies could hire a "super bus " yourselves.

In this instance i dont think phumelela or the system is a fault.

Surely the jockeys pay the bus to get a ride to Kimberley?

easy makes a great deal of sense and i've often wondered why the" poor struggling lot "don't move there - a card of 9 rides per week is better than two at the Vaal maybe?

I dont know if they pay or not, all i know is that the bus has had problems for years. So if they pay for the bus and it breaks down i suppose they have a "claim" against the operator of the bus (not the agnet Phumelela) if the bus is part of them riding in kimberley package then that should not exist. The kimbelery programme is mapped out for the year www.sahorseracing.co.za so its not difficult to book flights months in advance at a lower price.

100%, why is there no "jockey colony" in Kimberley?

Donavan Yeo rode Go Me gal yesterday of his last 30 rides 21 have been in kimberley. For me it makes sense that he live there and focus on being champion sand jockey.....
