Pretty much explained by all the posters above, I agree Neil P on course is one of the best, his move a year or so back to the studio was a disaster (not his fault), much better presenter at the track imo... Chainsaw is the perfect studio presenter, he also seems to do some research on the overseas racing, something which is lacking with others imo....The poor boy should be doing double shifts me think...:D
As for tellytrack tipsters, 2cents
is in a world of his own, he explains why he fancies a horse and does not just tip the top 3 in the beating all the time, top class keep it up.

I'm with Mac on this one. I know which presenters I like but that wasn't Hib's question.

A pleasant non-irritating voice and being at ease on camera are part of it. So is telling me something I don't know or didn't notice ... which I'd have thought was pretty easy! Isn't that why they use trainers on the show? They should know the horses that are running at their local tracks, as well as their jockeys and trainers ... more especially if they themselves have a runner in a particular race, they should have checked out the opposition. Don't just give the top three in the betting, as Greg has already mentioned.

Betting is of interest but I'd rather hear something about the horses and their form, who they've run against, whether they are improving, are they down in class, how they went to the start, etc. I can read the betting lists for myself. But I've a funny feeling that for some presenters this is the first time they hear what's running in the next race, when they hear it read out by their studio guy. Then they grab the top three in the betting, maybe shuffle them round a bit and that's your lot.

I don't get to see a lot of the TV the SAs here see but I would make a couple of quick observations... 1. You are never going to get presenters who don't read out the betting etc because a) if they didn't there would be an outcry because not everyone can see the tv all the time but can listen and want to know movements etc and b) they are not able to fill the time with useful info because they are not given it by trainers, jocks, owners before a race to enable them to pass it on, whose fault is that? 2. I therefore say and will repeat and repeat and repeat... get the commentators sorted first as they are the most aggravating as some simply are not up to amateur standards let alone professional, 3. All post-race interviews should include the question, what is best of your remaining runners, to me it helps identify those who have the punters interests at heart and those that are more interested in keeping info to themselves. 4. Hasn't the standard of presenters improved lately, isn't there an ex-jock who is pretty good at tipping? and the "fairly" attractive brunette who is a trainer's wife I believe, is she not "pretty" good?

CnC let it go man, you made statements that were bound to upset a few people, if you can't take the "abuse" in return don't make the comment in the first place. There are very few on here who would agree with your comments about Dave, he has proved himself very helpful to a number of people here and none of it is for self-interest. Anyway, he can fight his own battles...

If all I'm going to hear are betting moves and pool sizes for Wetherby and Ngong, then I can only repeat - Thank F**K for mute buttons.

I've pushed my mute button almost down to the battery. I need tweezers to work it now.

You talk about interactive sci fi stuff but we're still in the Dark Ages with that wretched stationary strip burning ghost images in our screens. So I won't hold my breath!

scotia I sympathize with you. There are some really good posts and then you get some posters that damage the credibility of the forum.

I have been following the forum for sometime now but only as a guest but I have decided to join so I can also comment.

From my observations, there are a few contributors that only seem to be happy when they are unhappy and then there are those that offer some advice but it is evident from what they write that they haven't a clue. It is probably similar to most of us watching a rugby/ soccer game and calling the ref a 'doos' but none of us has ever reffed a game!

Welcome Dilligaf

There is a lot of positive and constructive posts on this site however people have tunnel vision and only point out the negative ones to me when I try to get them to join in or reply, it's easier to say "we ignore you" rather than correct a fault.

Anyway welcome to the mad house and enjoy!
