SA racing in a ( nuts)hell
13 years 2 months ago
Jackson's half brother makes his debut tomorrow.
Backed into 7/10
WHY is this obviously talented horse (rumours for the last 4 weeks) making his debut over 1200m
Why do SA trainers not have the skills to let horses bred to run over >1600m run them over that distance in the 1st race?
Worked for Frankel!!
I predict this will win by 5 lengths tomorrow and will win another 2 races as a 2 year old.
I also predict it wins ZERO as a 3 year old

THERE is no gun being held to anyones head for the horse to run at "this time of year"
THAT horse is related to a classic winning horse (cape derby) worse case scenario as an entire his races should be cherry picked
with the view of a career at stud. His half brother got thumped over 1200m on debut (5/1 into 6/10).
All rumors are that this has a bit of talent, surely it would be prudent to NOT attempt to win a sprint with this and rather asses its ability (professional trainer) look at a decent 3 year old classic campaign (with a view to export/sell ) to dubai and then work backwards to a debut over its correct distance probably sometime in june/july.
IMVHO this is a race that this horse does not need to run in. It proves nothing , achieves nothing but can be "one race too many" even at the start of a horses career.
If it wins today (it should) it will win because it has class.
I remember a horse called Rock Opera, won many races as a 2 year old and bugger all as a 3 year old.
2 year old races are in my opinion designed for speedy early types, Champions very rarely are over exposed as 2 year olds.
In an ever shrinking world and with huge prospects abroad one should really take a bit more time in planning an obviously talented horses career.

Easy, just because Jackson stays that far does not mean that this one will. Who knows, maybe this is a flying machine. I have seen many full/half brothers and sisters that are VERY different. Some are good, some are useless, some stay and some sprint. Part of what keeps this game going. We just dont know.

You worked abroad in the UK. Would the half brother of a derby winner really make his debut over 1200m early in the season?
What possible positive can come from todays race?

Imo - if a horse (whether a juvenile or otherwise) is ready to run (and possibly win), it makes no sense to wait - who knows what may happen in 6 months time - could pick up an injury, etc.
That is not to say it should race once a month for the next 6 months - planning a career is important with 'boom' horses

Jade Bay is also a 1/2 brother to SAVONA who has won 1 race ...over 1200m, Jackson is by Dynasty which is where the stamina may well come from whilst JB is by Jallad so when all is said and done 1200 could well be his preferred trip

I bet you its not, i bet you this horse will end up a miler and win bugger all as a 3 year old.

I'm sure the Zaki stable knows what's the best for this horse! I wouldn't worry about the horse, i would worry about taking the price before it starts 1/3
