GB how will boycotting the tote and reducing the turnover help solve the situation?? the Open Bet is a parasitical practice akin to ticket touting and should be abolished... imo those who choose to partake in it should NEVER complain about racing's shortfalls as they are in fact contributing to it's demise...

You missing the point ITS ALL ABOUT THE SERVICE OR LACK OF IT THEY OFFER...(:P)

Why should I stand for shit service Titch, if you take your car to the same dealer and continuously getting crappy service from them aren't u gonna look somewhere else for better service...??

I think we should just agree to disagree....:)

Your comments noted but i dont think that by you not using your account actually achieves anything.I phone Bettingworld and they take my tote bets....pick 6's,P/A's...but they put that bet onto the tote....not like the bookies who ride on the back of the tote. The bottom line is the bigger the pools ,the better payouts for all.
I dont go into tote outlets to take bets.I am either at the course, or phone the bets in, we are living in 2012 and need to use the technology available. For the punter who doesnt have access to tellytrack,a phone or going to the course and lands up in a tote he must surely just find one that works for him ,they are out there.

GB if the open bet was abolished and the tote/operators services did not improve in terms of facility's stakes etc etc then yes then boycott them and seek an alternative but taking money out of an already diminishing kitty is not the way to remedy the problem these are simply my views and im sure we both have the same ideals at heart the betterment of racing, so we agree on the destination it's just the route taken to get there that we are in conflict with :)

thank the lord for the open bet...gregs 10000 percent correct in his views.you want my gambling rand then give me the customer service i deserve.hollywood are the leaders in this field they go the extra mile so they will get my tote bets ..i have had a telebet acc for decades but havent used it for almost 2 years or more BUT NOT ONE PHONE CALL TO FIND OUT WHY...this sums up the attitude of saftote in a nutshell towards its customers ,,,cant blame the staff because look at the leadership at phum gold its non existant...

OR the reason for the fluctuation in the payouts is because we have a weaker tote and the overseas investments do make a difference but without the open bet this would change as is the case when we bet into Singapore or USA totes our contribution does little or nothing to there divs...

IMHO it would only strength the tote operators position as they don't have to do a thing to improve the punters lot as they will get them to punt anyway. In RTB the aircons wasn't working for 3 weeks in the TAB outlet IT DIDN'T STOP THE PUNTERS going there, the service from the tote ladies and bettingworld is so poor and unfriendly unhelpful, arrogant but still they come.

On this forum over time there was numerous complaints about Tote outlets, has the operators responded once? no because they don't have to, the punter will come back because they are there for the money, all that will happen is that if the open bet is taken away the operator might lose a few customers but if the turn over increase they will keep it for themselves and not pass it on if you think that you live in a dream world, 2 years ago Phumelela had a massive profit but they still reduced the stakes, what is new? .

its important to note that something like 70% of betting turnover comes from the R6 punter...just a note to help with why certain things are the way they are..and this must be the basis for alot of phumelela decisions??

Correct justin , i can tell you from having run a few tote outlets that the totes dnt need the guys who play big ,it just needs the consistent small players (whom i doubt even heard of this site)to continue to feed the piggy bank everyday and all is well
