where the hell did you get that from ???????

This is a fact. It's obviously not common knowledge, but this is the latest trend. It is international 'standard practise',and big overseas punters and syndicates do not enter a market unless they are given rebates.

Just because you haven't heard about it does not mean it is not so.

"(NB James ,local owners rely on our bets for stakes ,punters don't rely on SA racehorses to bet on ) "

Rob succinctly and accurately put. The irony in this fact is that it is the operator who have shown that we don't need the SA racing product to bet on! But, lets not change the subject, the open bet is the only devil.

If the stakes in SA were to increase by say 20-25% would there suddenly be an increase in 20-25% in new punters/money on the tote? There is only so much cash in the system and I think the money will shift from one place to another without an increase in actual new customers.

It wouldnt be an instant increase in tote turn over but with bigger stakes would come more owners and horses which would lead to an overall better product that would be more conducive to new punters/money

Titch do you actually think punters know the stakes of the races they bet on in the UK, Zim, Turkey etc? They bet because they bet not because of stakes - Once many moons ago i was also conned into the" Open Bet Walks On Water" story - It cannot and will not save racing - The only way to save Racing is to get new punters not new owners.

How many Casino punters do you know that own their own Slot Machines ? You don't need more owners, trainers or jockeys you need more muggs to fill the machines
