JV what about Rob's statement regarding last years July??
8. As a point of interest, it is well documented that Castlethrope was severely interfered with and nearly brought down in last years July finishing lame and coughing. Despite this, he produced the second fasted 400m to finish and was only beaten 5L by Igugu. We battled with his soundness thereafter which caused him to miss the entire Cape season.
Surely being interfered with in running and still producing the 2nd fastest 400-finish cannot be brushed off as "not competitive"?

so rather put some no hoper in than a horse who ran 2nd in a group one mile to arguably the best miler we have had for years..justin your inexperience in the industry is showing, its horses like castlethorpe that add to the intrigue of the july...before in full flight won the july everybody said he also wouldnt stay and shouldnt be in the field

If Silver Flyer had come back to his best 3yo form, he would have been a big runner off a MR of 108. On his last 2 disappointing runs, not surprising that he has been scratched.
If at least one of the top rated older horses stands their ground, then Jackson will be well in at the weights carrying 57kg, and a deserved favourite. If not, and his weight is pushed up to 60kg to satisfy the conditions of the race then his connections may well decide not to run him, which would be a huge pity.

Everyone says the Cup Trial is a weak race but I like the way PJ exploded over the last 50 meters. I would still love to see Beach Beauty win for Mr Drier his connections and KZN.

Al you got the wrong race there, PJ ran in the Gold Challenge not the Cup Trial.
In any event he will need more than an explosion to beat Jackson. I cannot see PJ giving Jackson 3 kg's and beating him.
