lol.i always said this english team are way over rated.this is the 1st decent team they hv faced since we last beat them in 2008 series.

well done g smith on his ton in his 100th test match.
well done amla on a magnificent ton.

now to turn the screws after tea and put these avg bowlers to the sword.only one team can win this test.
cant wait for ab to get to the crease because he will up the anti and score quickly.

you got to love these english commentators wen they comparing the 2 teams.

I didn't see much of it yesterday but reports are indicating that the strip has unexpectedly become increasingly batsman friendly, bar a little unpredictably in the bounce, and the conditions were not helpful to the bowlers either. Apparently Strauss is of the opinion Greg that if you can't initially "get" someone out, the best way to get them in the modern game is to frustrate them into making a mistake, never been a fan of such tactics myself, even if there is some logic to it.

If the reports are true regarding the pitch then no surprise that world class batsmen dominated. With the nerve factor playing its part though, even if this is true, England up against it.

All that said, some great scores and my hat tips respectfully to Smith, Amla n Jaaaark!

Englander Yes that is what Strauss did, surely you learn from the best (Aussies), they NEVER approached a game or strategy so negative, there approach has always been to WIN THE GAME no matter what conditions you facing. IMO Strauss should of set a field to Smiths strengths and then get this bowlers to bowl to this, you then would have the opportunity to ''surprise'' him with a ball being bowled outside off and hopefully he has a go at it. Saying that the pitch was a feather bed, I reckon this game is heading for a draw.

Greg, I agree 100% and can only repeat... never been a fan of such tactics myself, even if there is some logic to it

Don't underestimate the fear factor, 1 or 2 early wickets in the 2nd innings and England may need something similar to Onions to make you cry again >:D<
