2-2 a fair series result considering both teams played pretty poor cricket and neither deserved to win. For me, another example of why they should drastically reduce the number of 1-dayers and restore the tests to 4/5 in a series... but people have to turn up and watch or it won't be economically viable. I implore, beg, beseech you all... if you are like me and love test cricket but hate this one day oh-too-often predicatable won-at-the-toss rubbish, take a couple of days off work and get to the grounds and get SA-England tests back to 5 (tu)
At least we have three T20s still to look forward to

I believe that the ODI rules are changing from 1 Oct; there won't be anymore bowling power plays and in the non-power play overs, only 4 fielders will be allowed outside the circle - imo that will not make much of a difference? I think that there is a place for ODI matches, but I agree not as many; also they are messing with the rules too much - if you want to have a 'different' (crowd pulling) game than test cricket, go back to using one ball and let the batsment have a bash - at least then there should be more close finishes.
I have often wondered about the timing of the bowling power play, is there (currently) a rule that states before which over it must be taken; England yesterday delayed their's to the 21st over - now what would have happened if the bowling captain somehow 'forgot' to take the bowling power play by the 35th over (the latest when the batting power play has to be taken), would the fielding side then be forced to take the bowling power play after the 40th over? Or does the rule specify that ALL power plays must be completed by the 40th over?

Just so you know I'm not ignoring you Frodo...
I have no clue what the rules in 1 day cricket are any more... as you say, too many rules and too much tinkering. I have no problem with some 1-dayers, they can make a pleasant change. But they currently almost rule the roost and it is that which makes them boring and ultimately will kill cricket and bring baseball to the world... and fark me, that is a tedious game to watch! lol

with T 20 world cup upon us i dont think the proteas will win it even tho i am a big suppoter of proteas.my reasoning is quite simple.we hv 2many players off form and our star player AB is not playing well.Levi is way out of his depth and imo he shouldnt be allowed to play a single game, but i know they will play him hoping he can come off,but reality is all other teams hv worked him out and he is a free wicket for opposition.Amla and Kallis should open and my worry is our players dont seem to be capable of clearing the boundary and batting opposition out of games.our bowing is not too bad but they hv to play MORKEL and STEYN with BOTHA and PETERSEN our spinning options.we hv kallis,JP, and ALBIE to bowl as well so i hope they dont use PARNELL.
My fancy to win is the West Indies because they hv players who can take game away from opposition.
im hoping proteas can win it, but im not holding my breath.
