Englander : "Lara (who even had a pitch flown in to break the world record!)"

What was that about? I didn't ever hear about it.

Englander I get what you are saying about matches against non test unions, Amla has scored 791 runs in 14 innings against these sides averaging 56,5 runs an innings. Take back the 791 runs, Amla is on 3031 runs so then he would need 760 runs in 26 innings to break Sir Viv Richards record, against England he would be close to that by the end of the series and do it even faster. :D

If playing against these weaker sides is so easy why has no one since 1984 broke the record? He did it in 21 less innings than KP. If you compare him to the other modern day batsmen you can see what an amazing achievement it is.

Shrek... I am an Amla fan. I am on record as saying so. I am in no way trying to demean him. He is well on the way to becoming a "great", all I am saying is lets allow him to get there rather than rushing to proclaim him something he may not be able to maintain over the test of time.
The answer to your second point is very easy... ask any English bat whether they would rather face the Kenya, Zim etc attack or Steyn n Morkel? No brainer really :) And I did say he is right up there with the best of the modern players.

Mav... Antigua 2004 WI vs England. England led the series 3 zip and they didn't want to lose 4-0 so they had a special track flown in and laid. Not the first time they have done it. It was in that test match Lara broke the world record. Was a joke. My brother could have got a ton on it and I only played cricket with him once... and he got a golden duck that day! >:D<

maybe England can learn from Taylors knock and that is play the Indian spinners on the front foot and attack attack attack. Play back to them and you are a goner.

Now he was a great opener and i believe that he would have scored plenty of test runs had he had the chance frodo. He nver wore a helmet until the West Indian Mosely nearly decapitated him with one of his bouncers. I believe that Cook even went to sleep with a helmet after that.
