I have been to the G Englander. What an experiance. I sat in the Great Southern Stand, those Aussies give the opposition heaps. Cant understand how you can get bored with a one dayer. Remember the 438 match? What an epic. But I do concur with you re the Test matches.

Nope, I wasn't.
You may call him whatever you like, he has had a fantastic tour (thanks to England's poor catching! said partly to bait... ;) and partly as a derogatory comment to my own team's dismal failings in that department recently)
It would only be a pleasure to meet the Shams, as it would your goodself OR :)-D

Sh*te cricket ground now, good stadium though. And lol, the Aussies didn't give the English heaps last series :) They are bad winners and bad losers, no time for them as far as cricket goes. CnC... you found today's game anything but boring?? It was all but over when the coin landed! The 438 match... was that the SA-Aus game...if so, worst thing that has happened to cricket in years, if ever there was a nail hammered firmly into crickert's coffin, it was that game.

Phew you are a brave man. That was the greatest one day game ever in the history of one day cricket.

If you had a son... you reckon he'd want to be a bowler having seen that sh*t? What lad growing up liking cricket would see the point of wanting to be a bowler watching that. Do all the sweat etc and it makes no difference because everything is geared to the ball hitting or going over the ropes.
May as well have just turned up with a baseball and baseball bat cos there was very little cricket on show! lol

Stop trying to find an angle to hide your obvious dissappointment by your teams inept performances this summer against the now best team in all forms of cricket. Could not resist that "best team in all forms of cricket" hehehe

No angle. Said it since the day it happened. Tis true too!
I was disappointed with our performances in the tests but, as I said from the start, I think that over a couple of years England were being over-rated and SA under-rated so it was not a surprise. But I think England are much better than what they showed and that was the most disappointing aspect. Strauss, Trott etc can and should have done much better. The 1-dayers, I would rather we win of course but "care", not a jot!

Englander, re your statement:

Btw... I do hope, very good and "promising" though he may be, no-one is yet trying to compare Amla to the great Sir Viv??

I never saw Sir Richards play (well except for one or two highlight packages here and there) - If one takes into consideration that Amla reached 3,000 ODI runs in 12 innings LESS than any one else (including Sir Richards), I would suggest that Amla has long since passed the 'promising' stage - and his innings yesterday (not to forget his triple century in the test) surely elevates him into 'the best of all times' category, along with legends like Brian Lara, etc.

Morning Frodo. Promising was merely reference to the fact that Amla has hopefully still many years to come and he will be "judged" over his total career. Just for info, I think approx 800 of Amla's runs have come against Holland, Kenya, Ireland, Zim and Bang over 16 innings. Sir Viv played one innings against Zim (16), though in fairness when he was playing Sri L were not the team they are today (but better than Holland etc!). Lots of other things one could also throw in, primarily that I suspect Amla has had use of better batting tracks. But, Amla certainly stands up against the best of them in modern day cricket, I was justing saying that I think we should be a little patient before making comparisons to Sir Viv, who imo is a genuine cricket legend and a far greater "great" than Lara (who even had a pitch flown in to break the world record!)
