If Smith sold his soul like Trott and Pieterson he would be close to 12000 test runs by now as he just loves playing on English tracks.

buts its a fact. Trott would never have come close to the B side. I dont know if you can remember players like McEwan, Robin Smith, Chris Smith and others. All played county and or International cricket for England and scored tons of runs here. Good on English tracks pretty ordinary with one or two exceptions everywhere else. Same goes for Trott and Pieterson.

Not many people can improve on an average of 70-ish. As I think I've made clear, I am a big fan of Smith and have always been amazed at some of the negativity towards him from his fellow countrymen. I have said for many years he would be in my world X1. As for Trott and KP, not my problem, they served their time and qualified and that to me is the end of it, if SA's are still bitter about it they can only blame themselves for the ridiculous "rules" that were imposed and England have developed them into fine test players. But let us not debate all that!

Yes remember them very well, but saying they ''sold there soul'' is unfair, the politics in South African sport had a huge impact on them leaving for England...

ok a bit harsh but I am not going to apologise. Back to todays play. If we can score another 220 and then declare the ball will be in our "overseas pro" hands. If he can get that ball turning he can bowl them all out for less than 200

I was at Barristers in Newlands (a pub) and Alan Lamb was there as well. He was at the end of his England career and was playing for Free State. He was batting and was not out overnight. We went across the road to a little Pizza restaurant and drank more and eventually left at about 3 in the morning. He was out of it. He went out and scored a double ton a few hours later. He was a class batsman.
