Striker Strydom brilliance

Actually wanted Smanjemanje to win and Bunnybell @ 66 to 1 also but guess what?

i must say striker is good but he no the jockey he was when he used to race stone last then come with the finish almost every race. to day every race he must race handy or in lead

now from a fool that thinks I know everything and yes i know...going to get blasted by the "experts" but this is my view and i would love to here your views

to compare last year top 3 jockeys delpech,lerena and marcus with striker

delpech-can only win with 5/1 and shorter priced horses that runs handy or just of the pace...long way behind other 3 jocks on ability .good on milers and stayers.never lost when i didnt put him in my exotics on a frontrunner (except Igugu) or a horse that comes from way back (i know viva maria won at 50/1 ....blinde hoender het n mielie raak gepik...and i had ilha bela as pick 6 banker)

lerena-best value for money if you compare the odds of his winning rides compared to other 3 jocks.can ride sprinters to stayers and good from of the pace and from the back,know how to get in front before the finish line and keep in front.can never leave him out of exotics if he rides a 16/1 or shorter
marcus-best ride of his life......JAY PEG in Dubai Duty free.....(one of the best rides i ever seen).best jockey in south africa on a front runner.also very good from just of the pace.ride mostly favorites and the shortest odds horses on average in south africa,not the best value for money for the odds and winning average.not good from way back but good judge of pace especially when going to the front.

Strydom-best judge of pace in south africa....by a margin and by far best tactical rider,especially in big races.brilliant from the front or 50 lenghs back.can win any race if in the mood even on a donkey but unreliable,the jockey that cost most punters some big money on short priced favorites ,but how many times did you say he cant win the race and the next thing he surprise you....(now you all are smiling,he caught you also hahahahaha).never never leave him out,even when he is on a horse your "insider" said have no chance.in the past by far the greatest jockey ever in our country from way of the pace ,but the last 10 years he is brilliant on frontrunners or gallopers (his 2 best rides when going against our best jocks was LONDON NEWS and POMODORO ,no other jockey would have won the JULY on the 2 horses).never leave him out in a big race,but dont feel too bad if you accidently left him out in exotics on an even-money fav in a maiden plate or low handicap.the jockey with the most ever last stride wins and like lerena,loves to win for the smaller yards

who i will pick to ride for me in a grade 1- frontrunner,handy or from the back-PIERRE STRIKER STRYDOM

That was vintage Striker when he was in P.E. and then moved to JHB.Comes from miles back and swoops down in final 200mts, nothing to stop him.

This thread is like talking about the best sex you have ever had i.e. it is only in the mind.

To me the best Jockey is the one that rides the winner that I have my money on. Should the Horse not win then it must be the Jockey's fault and not mine.

How old is Anton Marcus and why is he only RECENTLY being acclaimed as being the BEST Jockey. Face facts he is riding for the most prominate OWNERS and also gets the choice of rides for them no matter for what stable. Anthony Delpech is, or was, MDK's first choice Jockey ever since being relocated to RSA, and we all know the quality of the Horses in that satable. Gavin Lerana is the working mans Jockey. He is not in with any top stable in RSA so he has to go Zim to get the top rides. Pierre Strydom freelances and only rides what he wants to when he wants to and is not commited to winning titles,

So I get back to my opening statement about the best sex, IMVHO at my age it was the last time I had sex. Similarly the best Jockey is the one that rides the winner that I back.

I believe we have the best In Jockeys in the world, I just wish I could back them consistently when they ride a winner.

Lerena only went to Zim to try and win the championship,not to have to get top rides....ask yourself why is he not contracted to a top stable?

Lerena must still learn what Marcus has already forgotten.....

Including yesterday his record for this season reads 14 rides , 7 wins and 7 places

....must have caculated what it is going to cost to have an extra mouth to feed.....

MARCUS IS A BOSS RIDER
and the only reason he rides favorites is coz he is what he is "superman"
the ride on Jay Peg alone will tell u dat .
its called "marcus factor"

Yeah striker is good but he rides wen he feels like it .

With how many fav did Marcus got beat on Saterday?

I think the top jocks are more valuable in the feedback they give post race to the trainers than just the actual ride. In that regard you see the performance of yards like Zaki Woodruff Tarry improve when a top jock rides for them.

Mistakes in races will happen just the way it is. In SA i think very few if any jock is not trying when they get a ride the indusrty is to small to get a reputation for being didgy or suspect.
