A lot of horses are much shorter in the betting purely based on the fact that Anton rides and it would be unfair to look at his stats on favs even tho it 'aint half bad

One thing about Marcus is that he rides to win every race (more so than the others imo), so I would not have him on my juvenile that is still learning the ropes - Striker and Gav much kinder on horses - just my opinion.

Had mr Delpech on one of mine once when she was joint favorite - showed absolutely no interest in the ring and then tried his level best to have the filly scratched at the start - needless to say he finished way back - might just have been his off day, but I have a long memory. ;)

I think I caught Striker on one of his interviews where he said 'maybe if the prize was R500 000', he would think of having a go - not sure if this was tongue-in-cheek

Brian Wiid once said the following words to me and a few other agents that were standing at scratchings at newmarket

" when pierre rides for me the next day no matter where the horse ran it eats all its food its relaxed and appears to recuperate quicker"

it helps when you have a world class horseman on yr horse a jockey who doesnt cut his mount in half and spends half his spare time paying the jockey club for fines of excessive use of the whip....striker andrew fortune jeff lloyd fall into this category
