I think there are 2 things here. I is fact and 1 is subjective.
1:fact is New Turf collected and delivered a horse from points A-B
they should get paid
2: subjective, trainers/breeders/vets have for many years lived off promoting dreams and encouraging statements.
So when i breed a horse and the following happens then should the people "get fully paid"
1: breed horse
2: "this is a wodnerful foal"
3: 2 months old foal contracts pneumonia on a friday night
4: Monday monday morning an email with a vets bill for R20k
5: "it was worth it, this foal is the best looking foal in the whole of mooiriver"
6: 2 years and R60 k later it goes into pretraining
7: bearing in mind "its the best foal in mooriver" imagine my surprise when pre trainer says "this is tiny, needs another year on a farm and might never see a racecourse"
8: sould i settle the R40k outstanding to stud farm? Or was stud farm prepared for "poor payments" because they infact were "leading" me on?
Is the industry so full of bollocks that because its build on hopes and dreams everyone accepts that acertain amount of spilage takes place?
I have used both New turf and a guy called mark. Both have been excellent in transporting horses and both have always been settled.
vets
breeders
trainers (not all)
have sometimes had to wait.

Horses and staff still need to eat whether your choice of farm/ trainer/ vet is unsuitable, easy. There is NO excuse for bad payments... Ever. And that's the bottom line.

So after delivering the passport to the NHA Mr Durandt accuses the Shams and says their heads will roll. Unbelievable un f$&$!ing believable. I wonder if the Shams will let this lie - I wouldn't . I wonder if anyone in the press ( bar of course SP ) will try and publish this story and throw it out in the open ? Jeez what next this unbelievable.

Am I pointing fingers FH??? Any names mentioned? There are a LOT of people that don't pay. I personally had to write of R47 000 in my first 8 months of training. How the hell can ANYONE sustain that kind of loss??? The horses will suffer in the end. Let me say that again: Horses suffer when owners don't pay. In fact a certain trainer *starved* a horse on purpose, to the point that it died, to punish a non-paying owner. Disgusting. Revolting. Even then, the NHRA did nothing to punish either party. Non-payment is rife in SA in all sectors. But the horses suffer in the end. The horses.

Just a small time owner and bad punter.

Greg ,I have pages of proof of failure to regulate their own rules...............the only way I can use it is if they charge me with bringing their "good" name into disrepute because there is no procedure to take action against them first...............still waiting!
