Larry keeps on going back to the "well" saying...."They are all saying I'm doing something wrong or I'm doing something illegal................."

Nobody is saying he is doing something illegal, all the journos and posters here are saying is that he didn't complete his due diligence to make ABSOLUTELY sure that the colors were not an issue BEFORE he posted the original press release.

That's all. As soon as he can accept that and also apologize to the people (Robyn Louw) for his remarks on national television the better for us all.

He has now gone on two shows on Tellytrack and said on both he had done nothing wrong.

...............Why then are the SA jocks not getting their colors?

Nuff said.

A mountain out of a molehill if I ever saw one.

So there was confusion from the RA and Larry about the due process required. Obviously nothing was intentional from the RA and Larry's part.

We all know Brett Masselle will at any opportunity take the RA to task over any wrongdoing, why he wastes his energy on this I have no idea but he can do what he wants with his time. I'm not sure if he means well or if his actions stem from personal issues he has with the RA and Larry. If he has personal issues he should sit down with Larry over a beer and rather work together than against each other.

Looks like Robyn as a journalist and as a racing fan was only trying to help matters, her intentions came from a good place.

Larry should forget about his pride and ego and apologise for some of the things he said on TV and the fact that Brett and Robyn weren't there to defend themselves was poor form.

Come on Larry, it takes a big man to admit a mistake and say sorry. We all know you mean well!

SA JOCKEYS WILL NOT GET PROTEA COLOURS

THE South African team in the International Jockeys’ Challenge will wear the silks of the owners of the horses they ride in the competition races – not the country’s national colours, as in previous years.

The National Horseracing Authority issued a statement, which reads as follows:

“Further to our Press Release dated 8 November 2012 regarding the International Jockeys’ Challenge to be held on 16 and 18 November 2012, The National Horseracing Authority confirms that as the jockeys are not members of a national federation affiliated to SASCOC they cannot be awarded national colours.

“As a result thereof it is not permissible for the local team of jockeys to ride in national colours nor any form of colours which depict the country which they represent. This is in terms of the National Colours Regulations 2009 promulgated by the Government. The Chief Executive has therefore decided that the local jockeys shall ride in the colours of the owners whose horses they are riding.

“However, in exercising his discretion in terms of Rule 8.3.5 the Chief Executive has decided that the team of international jockeys shall ride in colours depicting the colours of the country which they represent.”

from both interviews,i grasped that the Journo(news) and the advocate(legal) jumped the gun and went public. If only they waited........

We all know how the gravvy train depts operate, surely someone could have brought foward the date of the scheduled meeting.

Does this mean all the green jacket holders of the past are illegal?

On the cover of tonights Computaform in the pen pics of Jeff Llloyd it says Although Jeff Llloyd is not a south African he will be riding for South Africa. Why was Larry fighting for SA colours for a non South Africa. I think he should add this to his list of things he should apologize for

My 2 cents for what is worth. When our champ Michael Roberts went abroad to ride in the UK, at the end of the flat season he used to come to S.A. and ride in KZN in Dec, Jan, Feb. The New Years day meeting at Greyville was always good for Muis to boot home a few winners.

However we grew up with other top jocks like Basil Marcus also riding tops with the likes of Foveros, Singing Boy, Model Man to name a few but I must add that when Basil went to ride in HK, sadly he never ever did come back to SA or KZN to ride and give back something to the fans.(td)

Jeff LLoyd is a perennial favourite with SA racegoers and it is indeed a priveledge to have him come back here to ride whether it be The July or the Jockeys Int. Let us give support!!!

It is fine for Lloyd to ride here if this international meeting is just a social piss up and get together for all the jocks and bosses. The original idea was to award S A colours which makes his invitation idiotic. He lived off the fat of this land, then has fcuked off to another country and become their citizen, now gets awarded colours. Surely a young jock working here and supporting the industry deserves to experience riding against some of the world's best instead of Lloyd.

yes it is a privelege for Jeff Llloyd to be riding here and you probably have missed the point of my posts. He is not a South African citizen so should not be riding representing South Africa. He should be riding for the international team and a local( South African ) should be given this opportunity. My other point this morning is that if most people know that Jeff Lloyd is not a South African then why did the powers that be not know and if they did know then why were they trying to get him ( and the rest of their team) South African colours when that is just clearly wrong wrong wrong. Bring to South Africa as many top jockeys as you can but follow rules and common decency.
