no disrespect meant to anyone on here and i know i am generalising but that " dutchie " mentality of " this is MY chick, i own her" really seems to be at the heart of this and many tragedies in SA.

Yup i think u right.

If they have her phone records he be royally screwed.

I dont understand per-meditated. How can any one say was planned ahead of time? This looks like a crime of passion.

if he sits in jail wont be in general population. so where?

he needs special care being a paraplegic rich or not. Who gives that to him?

Giving him bail/house arrest make more sense than sitting in jail.

The Bail hearing seems way over kill at this stage.

I don't condone what he did but let the guy have a fair trial not UN-duly influenced by the media and community pressure.

African continent not known for woman' equality.
Middle east not know for womans equality
Catholic countries not known for womans equality
chinese and indian countries not known for womans equality.
so SA "Dutchies" probably more liberal than most men.

Sylvester,

i dont disagree with your point, but i must say growing up in SA it was not uncommon for friday nights to be followed by bruised eyes in the NGK on sundays.

Also you mention catholics, i am assuming you mean latin's porras/iti's etc. We might be a bit backward in the "she cooks i work" theory BUT i can honestly say u never ever saw my father lift his hand to my mother. NOR did i ever see either of them intoxicated.

Violence toward woman is wrong, emotional violence also occurs way too often.

I dont know the stats, but i know what i saw growing up. Us porras/lebs/greeks would date a chick and then if we broke up we would go back to san lorenzo and find another. The okes from storks would threaten to "kill myself if you leave" then moer her the next week......just my observation. not meant to offend anyone.

I think they had a fight .. she locked herself in the bathroom and he took the cricket bat to the door - when that did not work he started shooting at the door - Why no warning shot? Why did he not call the police about the intruder? Why did she not say anything when he shouted. Even if it was a burglar in the toilet would that not also be a murder? He is so full of it stinks and he should flush this statement down that very same toilet and ask for mercy.. I can see him doing a Hansie on the stand and crying his eyes out when he sees he has no hope.

100% Mr H. Maybe my wife and I are not normal but at home we never lock the bathroom door when we go to the toilet. I can understand closing the door but why lock it.

I know the media can blow things out of proportion but earlier it was said that the neighbours called the Police because of shouting and screaming during the night. Now Oscar say's the went to bed after 22H00 and only woke when going to the balcony. Plenty of holes and lies, I just hope he gets his just desserts.
