The CTC is a NON-PROFIT competition hosted by Racing South Africa, with the beneficiary being the African Horse Sickness (AHS) Trust.

In 2014 the competition starts on KRA Guineas Day, 3 May and ends on Super Saturday, 26 July.

Lists of horses are being finalised atm..

Surely they need to be able to supplement horses into the list after they have released it. I remember last year Vercingetorix was not available to pick.

For you guys who are going to enter, do you use a specific system for going about your picks?

i have made lists of all the horses and then listed all the races they could possibly be eligible for using criteria such as age, distance and my perceived quality.
I have then made a mark next to each horse who i think might run in a race. The horses who have the ability to run in the most races will get preference.

what do you guys think?

Its very hard Tommy,

For example Legislate is heading down for some of the season, then off to Dubai, but not sure how much of the season he's staying for

I agree it's very hard - what we need is transparency from the visiting trainers (via their websites and failing that, perhaps on Facebook) clarifying which of their horses are definitely going to campaign in KZN - nothing worse than to include something in your entry only to find out 2 days later that the horse is staying at home or is being exported etc.

The method suggested by Tommy makes sense - and I have tried it in previous years without much success - as with most things in the racing game, you need Lady Luck on your side ::o

I like to go for a far amount of 3 year olds as there are several races for them only and they can compete against the open company. Usually enter 10 teams and look for 3 or 4 bankers and float the rest of my selections around them.
