The countdown to a grand finale of the 2014 Charity Turf Challenge has begun! “Super Saturday” at Greyville Racecourse, 26 July 2014 will feature the Gr.1 Gold Cup (worth 44 points plus 5 bonus points to the winner), Gr.1 Champions Cup (worth 44 points), Gr.2 Gold Bracelet (worth 29 points), Listed Darley Arabian (worth 2 points to the winner) and the Listed Umgeni Handicap (worth 2 points to the winner). With a total of 126 points (including the 5 bonus points) on offer for the above features, we in for a thrilling finish to the 2014 competition!
As reported, due to the splendid response to this year’s Charity Turf Challenge, Racing South Africa is delighted to announce that prize money will be paid to 10th place! The full breakdown is listed below:
1st place – R100 000
2nd place – R20 000
3rd place – R10 000
STAND ALONE on VDJ Day – R20 000 (won by Rishi Sukhdoo aka “Powder Keg 1”)

Note: As per the conditions of the competition, should there be joint finishers, the prize money will be shared equally.
The African Horse Sickness Trust (Reg. No. IT 2043/2005/PMB) is the 2014 Champions Season Charity Turf Challenge beneficiary.
There were no major point scoring races over the past week. However, the following horses earned points:
1 point: CLEAR SAILING, YOSHIE, JUDICIAL & TRUE MASTER
2 points: ROC ‘N ROSE & LUNA DE VICTORIA
GLOBAL EXPRESS scored 6 points which included 5 long shot bonus points.
On “Super Saturday” there will be 6 spot prize draws on Tellytrack. This is a computer generated, random draw from all entrants and not dependent on points earned. Each winner will receive a R500 telephone betting deposit kindly sponsored by TAB GOLD “The Intelligent Bet”.
As and when Charity Turf Challenge horses earn points, we will update the Racing South Africa website and email data-base: www.racingsouthafrica.co.za

Bob, pay the poor in 9th place, has best chance of jumping the queue - he / she has 3 runners on the day, most other entrants have HOT TICKET only.

2014 CHAMPIONS SEASON CHARITY TURF CHALLENGE (CTC)

The Charity Turf Challenge competition was concluded on “Super Saturday” at Greyville Racecourse, featuring the final bonus race of the competition the Gr.1 Elan Property Group Gold Cup and supporting feature races the Gr.1 Beach Beauty Champions Cup, Gr.2 Gold Bracelet, Listed Darley Arabian and Listed Umgeni Handicap. With a total of 126 points on offer for the above features, it was a grandstand finish to the 2014 competition!
In the Gr.1 Elan Property Group Gold Cup, Hot Ticket was a notable disappointment for majority of the frontrunners in the competition and Wavin’ Flag (Silvano) scored 25 valuable points. Followers of Futura (Dynasty) were then handsomely rewarded with 20 points in the Gr.1 Beach Beauty Champions capping off an unforgettable Grade 1 double for the combination of trainer, Brett Crawford and jockey, Glen Hatt and in the Gr.2 Gold Bracelet, Jet Belle (Jet Master) bounced back to her best scoring 14 points.
