Due to the unprecedented response to this year’s Charity Turf Challenge, Racing South Africa is delighted to announce that prize money will be paid to 10th place! The full breakdown is listed below:
1st place – R100 000
2nd place – R20 000
3rd place – R10 000
Vodacom Durban July stand alone prize – R20 000

5th place – R7 000
6th place – R6 000
7th place – R5 000
8th place – R4 000
9th place – R3 000
10th place – R2 000

Note: As per the conditions of the competition, should there be joint finishers, the prize money will be shared equally.

Whilst the past two weeks were quiet for the competition, CTC entry “Saki” scored handsomely in the third leg of the Winter Series, having cleverly selected Dynastic Power (Dynasty) and Power King (Silvano) who finished first and second respectively in the Gr.3 Winter Derby. Points scored: 9 and 5 and no points for third as Paolo (Casey Tibbs) was not in the competition. “Saki” now occupies first and second position with four of his entries on the leader board.

The KZN Breeders Race Day featuring the KZN Breeders Million Mile, took place at Clairwood Racecourse on Sunday, 29 June. Entry into the race was exclusively for KZN bred three and four year olds registered with KZN Breeders Premium Scheme and this year was won by No Worries, trained by Gavin Van Zyl for owner Mr B Burnard. Jockey Keegan de Melo got the chestnut gelding home ahead of Distinguished and Bezanova. The 4 year old son of Kahal was bred by Summerhill Stud and pocketed a cool R625 000, taking his career earnings to R1 345 325.

In 2012, Gold Circle introduced an exciting new two year old race which was run on July Day in 2013, a non-Black Type Stakes race worth R1million for graduates bought at the Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale with further incentives if successful in the subsequent KZN Breeders Million Mile races. To stand a chance of winning your share of the R1 million purse in 2015, you must find your dream horse at this year’s sale which will be held at Suncoast Casino on Thursday, 3 and Friday, 4 July.
