Can an entire industry be in jeopardy because of a television channel that is removed?

Yes....the thin edge of the wedge....it is the very medium to reach non racing folk to get a chance of minuscule conversion....it is what keeps many more from seeking an alternative for their gaming Rand....I see that prominent breeders owners trainers and jockeys alike have already stepped forward.....they need to protect their livelihood and their very profession...how else can they get their product or talents to be show cased....:

It's called OUT OF SIGHT OUT OF MIND - I will not go back to the days of calling TAB to hear the commentary of a race as that is as frustrating as going to apply for a new drivers license - I don't have to go to Ellis Park to watch the Rugby so why in my own country can I not see a local "Sport" that used to have its own dedicated channel just because of corporate greed and mismanagement ? I really wonder when the Breeders are going to realize how easily this new "virus" can stop them in their tracks and do something about it?

No deadline. Was hoping on 1000 signatures. Looks like I was very optimistic. One would think Phumelela would have to arrange some sort of deal with Multichoice by the end of this week. If the channel does go we will have 10000 signatures by the end of the month !

If we can't then Multichoice has a valid case and we are doomed - Sign or don't cry later- Remember Newmarket, Bloem, Germiston, Milnerton, Arlington and act or accept that Racing is gone from your screens and may never return again(Who knows if Phum does or will ever get a liscence to broadcast into our homes)

Just signed...was number 196...
And if P gets licence to broadcast, I suspect it will be quite costly to view...after all, intent is to make a profit so price paid will need to cover all costs (will be inflated to cover excesses of staff and execs - more at the trough) + margin...to cater for dividends to shareholders...

Signed - although I doubt whether it would have any effect - people just can't be bothered - similar to the E-Tolls - almost everybody disagrees with it, but most just capitulate because it is such a hassle to keep on resisting.
If TT does disappear, it will certainly have a negative effect on racing in this country (pools will decrease, stakes will decrease, many more small owners will just not be able to afford it anymore) - will it just die - I doubt it - has been around before TV (although there were no legal casinos those days) and will continue to stagger along :S
